🧠 Stress Awareness Week — a reminder that stress doesn't just affect how we feel mentally. Our bodies feel it too!

⚡ When we're stressed, our nervous system activates the fight-or-flight response. While this is a normal and useful reaction, prolonged stress can leave us feeling tense, tired and struggling to switch off.

🦴 Tight shoulders, neck pain, tension headaches, jaw clenching and poor sleep can all be associated with stress. And when we're already dealing with pain or injury, stress can sometimes make those symptoms feel even worse.

🌿 The good news? Small, consistent habits can make a difference. Regular movement, fresh air, quality sleep and finding moments to slow down all help support our physical and mental wellbeing.

👐 At Highwoods Chiropractic, we understand that pain and movement don't exist in isolation. We take the time to look at the bigger picture, helping you manage physical discomfort and feel more confident in your body.

💚 This week, don't forget to check in with yourself. Sometimes your body is telling you it's time for a little TLC.

💪 When it comes to fitness and building strength, it's often the simplest movements - done well - which are most effective...

The plank is a great demonstration of this.

🔥 Benefits of holding a plank:

👉 Builds core strength
👉 Supports better posture
👉 Reduces risk of back pain
👉 Engages multiple muscle groups at once

The best part, you have no excuse - you can literally do a plank at home, at the gym, you could even do it at work if you want to!

✨ Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference in your strength, mobility, and overall health.

📱 As we spend more time on computers, scrolling on our phones, and working at desks, wrist and hand issues are becoming more and more common.

⚠️ Carpal tunnel symptoms often start subtly — tingling fingers, aching wrists, weakness in the hand — but can gradually become more frustrating over time.

💡 The earlier you address these problems, the better chance you have of improving movement, reducing irritation, and preventing it from progressing further.

🍂 Is there anything better than getting outside for a lovely autumn walk?

🍁 Crisp mornings, colourful leaves, fresh air and a chance to switch off from the busyness of everyday life. It's definitely one of our favourite things about this time of year!

🚶‍♀️ And the benefits go far beyond enjoying the scenery. Regular walking is one of the simplest ways to support your health — helping improve circulation, maintain joint mobility, strengthen muscles and support your mental wellbeing.

🧠 Getting outdoors and moving can also help reduce stress, boost your mood and improve sleep. Sometimes a little fresh air is exactly what you need!

💚 You don't need an intense workout to do something good for your body. So grab your coat, enjoy those autumn colours and get those steps in!

🧠 Did you know that pain isn't always an accurate measure of what's happening inside your body?

⚡ Your nervous system is responsible for processing pain signals, and when pain persists, it can become more sensitive — sometimes continuing to produce pain even after tissues have healed.

👐 That's why at Highwoods Chiropractic, we don't just focus on where it hurts. We look at how your body moves and functions, your symptoms and the factors that could be contributing to your discomfort.

💚 Understanding pain is an important part of managing it. Our goal is to help you move with greater confidence and get back to doing the things you love.

⚡ Trapped nerves can be incredibly frustrating. One day you have a slight ache, the next you're experiencing tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain travelling into your arm or leg.

🧠 Nerves act as the body's communication system, so when they become irritated or compressed, symptoms can appear far away from where the actual problem originates.

👐 At Highwoods Chiropractic, we assess how your spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system are working together to identify the source of the irritation. Our goal is to reduce pressure on the affected nerve, improve movement, and help your body recover naturally.

💪 The sooner a trapped nerve is addressed, the better the chances of preventing it from becoming a long-term issue.
