POSTS STORIES REELS

A couple of years ago, when I was dreaming up this little chocolate venture, I wanted to name it Hiraya Chocolate.

But at the time, the name felt a little less “obvious,” and most of the business books I was reading said to choose something clear and easy to understand. So I went with Crafted Cacao Co.

Fast forward to a few months ago, a dear friend and mentor encouraged me to revisit Hiraya because the meaning was beautiful, personal, and deeply connected to my Filipino roots.

So here we are.
Thank you, @morningswithjojo , for the encouragement.

Hiraya is an old Filipino word meaning dreams, hopes, or aspirations. And at Hiraya Craft Chocolate Studio, we dream of a better chocolate world — one that honors farmers, celebrates creativity, and values true craftsmanship.

We hope to bring this dream to life by supporting artisan chocolate makers, creating meaningful chocolate workshops, and sharing education that helps more people discover chocolate in a deeper, more delicious way.

I hope you’ll join us and support us on this journey.

Welcome to Hiraya Craft Chocolate Studio. 🤎 by @hirayachocolate

🇵🇭 Filipino chocolate, all the way from Vancouver! 🍫

In celebration of Filipino American History Month, we’re celebrating Filipino chocolate makers across borders and the wonderful diversity of Philippine cacao!

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on @kasamachocolate, a Filipino craft chocolate maker based in Vancouver, Canada!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Vince and his fellow co-owners, and I was especially excited to discover their chocolate bars featuring cacao from Isabela, Cagayan, and Apayao in Northern Luzon!

These are Philippine cacao origins we don’t often come across here in the U.S., which makes discovering them even more exciting. And their flavor combinations? So fun! They even have a Tanduay Rum chocolate bar! 🥃🍫

🎥 Meet Vince in the video, and learn what makes @kasamachocolate special! ❤️

Philippine cacao, good conversations, and a little candle shopping! 🇵🇭🍫✨

Thank you, Roche, for inviting Hiraya to celebrate Filipino Heritage Month! I loved talking chocolate with everyone and helping people discover the flavors of Philippine-origin chocolate.

A sweet bonus: my favorite candle makers, @mahal_scent , were there too! I can’t get enough of their beautiful candles. 🤍

@musubi_libre kept everyone happily fed with their yummy musubis!

More pop-ups and classes are coming! Follow along for your next chocolate discovery. 🍫 by @hirayachocolate

Came for the chocolate. Left with new friends. 🍫🤎

The sweetest part of my first NW Chocolate Festival? Meeting the people whose passion, stories, and curiosity make this community so special.

I’m still so new to this industry, and I’m grateful to everyone who welcomed me, shared their knowledge, and made me feel like I belong.

Give the people and organizations tagged here a follow and some love! I’m excited to keep learning from them, and share more of their work with you!

First Friday Community Night is back! Support small businesses and treat yourself to a craft chocolate bar (or two!) as we kick off the weekend. See you all tomorrow! by @hirayachocolate

Taking a break for a few weeks to recharge. Swapping flip flops and swimwear for sweaters and hiking boots. 🏔️ 🐻 🐳

I am working on new workshops and classes and excited to share them with you when I get back. 🍫

Yes, I brought my own drinking chocolate for this trip! 😜

Any guesses where I am at??? by @hirayachocolate

Last Sunday, we had the honor of being part of the first-ever Filipino Film Festival organized by Arte.

It was such a meaningful experience to reconnect with my roots and meet so many incredible community members coming together to support Filipino stories, culture, and creativity.

From the team behind the event, to the models, performers, filmmakers, actors, vendors, and everyone who came out to watch and support the films, it was truly a beautiful celebration. One that made me even prouder to be Filipino.

Maraming salamat, Arte, for inviting us to be part of this memorable celebration of culture and heritage. I’m so excited to see all the amazing things you continue to create for the community!

Still thinking about Sunday afternoon at our Castro Valley space and finally getting to step back and really take it all in. 🤍

From Kevin’s beautiful sampaguita painting, Maddie’s peonies on the windows, Olivia’s florals that brought the whole room to life, Keesa’s styling touches, and the unreal cacao and merienda experience by Sarabeth and Grace… every detail felt so intentional and just so special.

What a gift to have a stunning space that gets to hold this much creativity under one roof.

So grateful that GMM spaces continues to be a backdrop for beautiful moments and talented people making magic everyday, for us, for you, and for everyone who walks through our doors. ✨

Something we never take for granted. 💕

This past weekend’s merienda was a dream💖

We are truly grateful for our community for supporting us and allowing us to keep sharing this little passion of ours. Filipino food is more than just what is set on the table. It’s about the people you share a meal with, the kwentuhan (stories) that takes place at the dinner table, the halakhak (laughter) that fills the room that makes food even more delicious. And that’s what this merienda is all about.

Maraming salamat to our friends for making all this possible

Not your ordinary merienda… this was a full-on experience.

Yesterday’s Spring Merienda brought together some of the most talented Filipina-owned businesses in the Bay—and honestly, what a way to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month in the grandest, most intentional way.

Crispy pork belly porchetta with that perfect crackle, tucked into warm, pillowy pan de sal with a sweet-savory glaze.
Wild mushroom adobo danish—rich, earthy, deeply comforting.
Smoked fish gougères that melt the second they hit your tongue.

Then the sweets…
Orange ginger chocolate scones, bright and spiced.
Mango float—soft, creamy, nostalgic.
Calamansi meringue bars—tart with that toasted finish.
Cassava cake, warm and indulgent, a la mode.

And the cacao… hmmm… wow. From delicate cacao tea to the rich, nostalgic @aurochocolate sikwate (that “I can die happy” kind of sipping chocolate) to a refreshing cacao lychee spritzer… it brought us right back.

And the florals… just stunning. Soft, intentional, and the kind of detail that quietly pulls everything together. Truly elevated the entire experience.

This is what it looks like when culture, craft, and community show up fully for each other. 🤍

Next one: Fall Merienda on November 8 🍂
And we’re not waiting until then—stay tuned, we’ve got some really fun events lined up this summer.
