Set me free, leave me be. I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.

SIX CONSISTENT MONTHS of choosing myself, showing up for myself, and putting in the work to look better, feel better, and become the best version of myself. A part of me wishes I had taken more pictures along the way to look back on and see just how much I’ve grown, not just physically, but in my confidence and the way I see myself. But I’m learning that I don’t always need a picture to prove my progress. I’m proud of the progress people can see, but even prouder of the growth they can’t. So here’s to continuing to choose myself, to giving myself grace, and to becoming someone I’m genuinely proud of. This journey has taught me that the most important commitment I’ll ever make is the one I make to MYSELF. by @hiskyler_ren
Shout out to @elisabeth_24 for recording my summer anthem at the @spaceykacey concert! #Mexicohoney by @hiskyler_ren
Officially the last day with my friends who came to visit, and my heart is still so full.I’ve truly had the time of my life, and I can’t believe how quickly this week has come and gone. It’s one of those weeks you wish you could press pause on just a little longer. If there’s one thing I’ll be taking away from tonight, it’s this: Be true to yourself. “You can’t love another until you truly love yourself.” A simple but powerful reminder of something that’s been resonating with me so deeply and personally lately. Sometimes, the things we need to hear find their way to us at just the right time. by @hiskyler_ren
I’m mentally and physically exhausted, but my heart is so full (again). I wouldn’t trade these moments for the world. Today, I had so much fun celebrating so many “first visits,” and I couldn’t help but feel incredibly grateful. How lucky am I to still experience a “first” after all these years with this company? To still make memories, and experience something new after all this time is such a special gift. And yet, it’s bittersweet. Knowing that this was one of the last events with a few of my friends before their final send off. I’m trying to hold on to the people and experiences from this week. Some chapters are hard to say goodbye to, especially when they’ve given you so much to be thankful for. by @hiskyler_ren
Today was bittersweet. I got to spend one last day with one of my favorite gals before sending her back to her home state. These past few days have been such an adventure, filled with so much laughter and new inside jokes. I’m so grateful for the time we’ve shared, I’m already looking forward to reuniting next year and picking up right where we left off. Today was also a special milestone in my own personal journey. For the first time, I found the courage to wear a two piece bikini, and that might seem like a small thing to some, but for me, it was a BIG step in my weight-loss journey. I’ve been working so hard to build my confidence, quiet the negative self-talk, and embrace a more positive mindset. I’m learning that my worth isn’t defined by how I look or what anyone else thinks of me. What matters most is how I see myself, how I speak to myself, and how I choose to love and nurture my body. Here’s to celebrating the little wins. by @hiskyler_ren
Spent another beautiful day being moral support (or maybe supporting the morals) for my gals. I can honestly say I haven’t laughed this much in a long time, and my heart is so grateful for these women. They reminded me of a part of myself that I didn’t even realize how much I missed. I also got to meet one of my favorite audiobook narrators and give him a hug. My book family showed up for me in such a big way last year, during a time when it felt like my whole world was falling apart. They may not even realize how much their kindness and presence carried me through some difficult days. And then, because apparently I like to keep life interesting, I made a complete fool of myself in front of a new audiobook narrator. I was honest and told him, “I don’t really read anymore, and I’m not familiar with your work. But can you tell me your workout routine? Do you drink protein shakes?” I proceeded to share my own workout regimen, which he did not seem particularly impressed by. Hahaha! But you know what? I’ll take these awkward moments over trying to be impressive any day. Sometimes, you just get a funny story out of it. It was a good day. A really good day. by @hiskyler_ren
Five months ago, while talking with my book club friends about their upcoming trip to California, I asked if they had ever seen the ocean. Their response? “Skyler, we only went on a cruise with you IN THE OCEAN!” It’s become our running joke ever since! Getting to share a little piece of my heaven with them has made my heart so full again. I couldn’t wait to show them one of my favorite beaches and let them experience a little of the beauty I get to call paradise. We have a few more fun adventures planned over the next several days before they fly back home. These are the kinds of memories that make life so sweet: good friends, lots of laughter (like being on top IYKYK), and the joy of sharing a little piece of your world with the people who make it special. To my friends, I know you’re here for a different reason, but thank you for letting me be your California tour guide during your visit. by @hiskyler_ren
Living life on the unhinged side. Quality time over quantity of time with the people I love most. by @hiskyler_ren
Do the things that scare you, because sometimes the most beautiful blessings are waiting just outside your comfort zone. Whether things work out in your favor or not, there is so much to gain simply by putting yourself out there, and allowing yourself to experience something new. For me, stepping outside of my comfort zone meant overcoming the fear of meeting new people and building connections beyond my usual circle. I took a chance, followed an Instagram ad, and joined a women’s social group. Little did I know, it would turn out to be such a beautiful blessing. From our very first meeting, I never imagined that I would spend two hours connecting with women over shared interests, life experiences, and stories that made us feel a little less alone in this world. And today? We had a spontaneous Disney date filled with dinner, attractions, and so much laughter. Honestly, my heart is so full and I feel like I haven’t truly been given the chance to say that phrase that often this year. There is something so special about finding genuine connections in unexpected places and being reminded that there are still so many beautiful people and experiences waiting for us when we’re willing to take a chance. So here’s your reminder to say yes to the things that intimidate you, show up even when you feel nervous, and give yourself permission to explore beyond what feels familiar. You never know who you might meet, what memories you might make, or how much joy is waiting on the other side of your fear. Be brave enough to put yourself out there. Be open enough to receive the unexpected. And trust that even if things don’t turn out the way you hoped, the experience will still teach you something valuable. Because sometimes, the very thing you were scared to do becomes the very thing you’re grateful you did. Here’s to new friendships, unexpected blessings, beautiful memories, and choosing courage over comfort. The payoff just might be worth it. by @hiskyler_ren
I wish I had taken more photos, so I could look back and see just how far I’ve come. My smile doesn’t feel as heavy as it used to. And I think that’s how I know I’m getting better, even in ways I didn’t notice along the way. by @hiskyler_ren
I took this photo in a dressing room back in April... During my most recent therapy session, my therapist was kind enough to remind me of my accomplishments this year when, truthfully, all I could see was my downward spiral. I wish I could tell the woman in the mirror that things will change. That opportunities will come. That the right people will find their way onto her train, not because she chased them, but because she finally learned to love herself first. It’s been quite the journey, mentally and physically. There have been moments when I questioned myself, and whether I was making any progress at all. But maybe progress doesn’t always look like moving forward. Sometimes, it looks like surviving, rebuilding, and choosing yourself again and again. I’m still learning. Still healing. Still becoming. And I’m not done yet. by @hiskyler_ren
I’m a few weeks away from the one year mark of my life event, and it’s strange to reflect on this past year as a whole. In a lot of ways, I feel like I blacked out during the first six months after everything happened. I was functioning, moving through life, but I wasn’t really present for it. I recently had to submit my end-of-year summary, and I struggled to identify my defining moments as a leader this year. I sat there and cried because, for the first time, I realized just how much of myself I had lost along the way. l’ve spent these last couple of months fighting my way back recovering the pieces of myself that felt salvageable and uncovering parts of me I didn’t even know were quietly there. And regardless of my circumstances, one thing has become very clear: I never want to lose myself again, especially for the sake of another person. I know everyone has noticed the physical changes, but I wanted you to know that I’m doing better mentally, too. I’ve traded the smut for poetry and philosophy. I’m listening to podcasts, being much more intentional about what I give my time and energy to, and working hard to protect my peace. And honestly, life feels more enjoyable now. I’m not saying I have everything figured out, because I don’t. But I feel more like myself again, and in some ways, I think I’m becoming someone even more grounded and whole than I was before. I’m grateful for that. by @hiskyler_ren
