POSTS STORIES REELS

by @historyinktattoo

For the inaugural post for history ink tattoo, I can think of nothing better than the collaboration with @einarrs_journey

Marcy was asked along with about a dozen other Nordic tattoo specialists to help design a few tattoo designs for this ebook.

We have had a few setbacks at getting the right location nailed down, commercial real estate agents, lawyers and more commercial real estate agents! We've had at least three deals fall apart at the very last minute.

We are currently very close to a fantastic location which we will announce as soon as the lease is signed. Our contractor is ready to go and we will be sending out notices to all our clients for the grand opening date! In the meantime Marcy has contacted all the clients and updated their appointments appropriately. We cannot tell you how much your patients means to us along with your support!

The following is the intro write up for the Nordic Viking tattoo design book.

My genuine issue with Nordic/Viking tattoo designs from Pinterest or Page 1 of Google is this, they’re overused, often mislabeled, and most likely stolen.

It’s a very common thing for some dipshit, whose only interaction with the culture was watching Vikings, to steal someone’s artwork and stick it on Pinterest as a Viking tattoo.

Then if it happens to blow up, the copycats join in because they want some of the sweet Viking clout too.

Also, just so I’m not misunderstood,

I genuinely do not care if you see a design that you like and you want to tattoo it. Do what you like with your body. If you think the Lord of the Rings Viking snowcone is the most epic piece of art you’ve ever seen, who am I to stop you from honouring your 1% Scandinavian Heritage.

I have no intention of gatekeeping tattoos.
That being said, I have an alternative solution for you - ️ Viking Tattoos Volume 1 ️
The first of many to come, currently a working eBook. Volume 1 will contain 250 tattoo designs when it’s done, ranging from small flash designs to huge ornate artworks. It also will be a physical Book .

Hello-Chucky!

I wanted to share this fun piece for this particular holiday! I completed this a bit ago. It was buried in photos from the year I took off Instagram.

Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been collecting Hello Kitty items for over 30 years—from toasters to toothbrushes and practically everything else! So when this client requested a Hello Kitty Chucky, I jumped at the chance. She is a fantastic client with a great sense of humor. I’ve since seen the tattoo healed, and it looks great. The next time she comes in for a session, I’ll be sure to post a photo of it.
*On the client's arm, all other work was done by other artists.
Thanks for taking the time to look and read!

This is Polynesian fusion piece, I did a bit ago. One of many Polynesian fusion and Nordic sleeves that still need to be posted. This gentleman came to me, gave me a lot of creative freedom. I like the way the patterns flow with the muscle.
I actually did this gentleman's other arm as soon as I got back from the Nordic Tattoo Moot this past spring, it was the first piece I worked on the day after I got back. I only got video on the other side so I will post it separately.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I am so thankful for all of my wonderful clients over the years.

This post isn't about a giant sleeve or an eight-session back piece. But this piece to me has an even more interesting story. This is a small piece of history for me. Seeing one of my old tattoos come back 18 years later is incredibly interesting.

This watercolor-style poppy flower is a cover-up over a maple leaf I tattooed just out of my apprenticeship about 18 years ago. Who says red doesn't last long-term?

This particular client, Christine, has been with me for a full 18 years and gets tattooed once a year, and is now almost completely covered in my art. It is clients like her who make my job so rewarding. I love catching up with her and seeing how my work ages over time.

I am truly thankful for everyone who has supported me over the years, especially those who have stuck with me for so long. You are like family, and on this Canadian Thanksgiving, I wanted to show my gratitude. by @historyinktattoo

Pictures tell stories—and this one tells a great story.

It is a collaboration with @isar.oakmund and me, creating an epic sleeve, chest panel and back piece: a sleeve containing an arctic fox; a chest panel incorporating Yggdrasil and Ratatoskr, and a giant Nordic raven spanning Paul’s shoulder and back.

Have you ever been tattooed four days straight?

Can you imagine being tattooed four days straight?

Well, that’s exactly what our client Paul did. Not once, but three times.

It began in York, UK, this past spring, through an incredible collaboration between Isar Oakmund and me.

Paul travelled to York for our first session. Isar began by drawing the design directly onto Paul, completely freehand. I would then tattoo what Isar had created. The next day, Isar would freehand the next section, and I would tattoo it. We continued working back and forth like this for five consecutive days—Isar designing each part directly on Paul and me bringing those designs to life in the skin.

It was a true collaboration from the very beginning. Isar created the foundation and overall design, while I handled the tattooing, execution and many of the details that developed as the piece came together.

Our second session took place in Edmonton during our local tattoo convention: another four days straight.

Then, just over a week ago, Paul returned for our third session—and we completed another four consecutive days.

That makes 13 days of tattooing over three sessions, without numbing cream. Not once.

We had a lot to accomplish during this latest session, and we came incredibly close to completing the entire piece. What remains is the cuff that will tie it all together on the lower arm. That should take one more full day.

The chest panel was something we added on the fly. It features Ratatoskr who climbs Yggdrasil carrying messages from the roots toward the world above—leading the eye directly toward that enormous raven.

One more session to go to finish Paul's cuff

I'm extremely proud of this piece I once again would like to thank Isar for the opportunity, I hope you like it as much as I do :-) by @historyinktattoo

Vita Anne:

"Through all ages, all over the world, art is what makes us human. Through all ages, all over the world, people developed similar desings, shapes and flows. Tattooing historic inspired desings lets me feel that connection between humans, lets me feel we are all one kind, while at the same time celebrating diversity and all our individual beauty!"

After 13 days in the hospital, I am finally home.
I am forever grateful for everyone's kind messages, prayers, donations to the GoFundMe, and for sharing my story. My hope is that by sharing what happened, it may help educate others and prevent someone else from experiencing the same thing.

I was discharged with six new medications and am still adjusting to both them and their side effects. I'm slowly getting around on my own again and am having many tests, specialist appointments, and follow-ups over the next several days and weeks.

Being away from tattooing for this long has pushed us financially further than we ever imagined. Because of your incredible generosity through the GoFundMe, I've been able to take this week off and part of next week to focus on healing instead of rushing back before I'm ready. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Some days are good, and some are much harder. I'm learning to be patient with myself.

I know many people wanted to visit me in the hospital. Please know it was never personal. I'm a very private person, and I simply wasn't comfortable being seen that way. I appreciated every message!

For those who know me, you know I've never been very good at taking time off. In the 20 years I've been tattooing full-time, I've only ever taken one week each summer to head into the mountains and one week at Christmas.

This time healing is different. I've been reminded that healing isn't something you can rush, and I need to give my body the time it deserves.

There are so many people I want to thank.
To @anne.v.hofe and Kai in Germany, thank you for helping organize the GoFundMe. To our friends at @northernblack May, Matt, Rebecca, Adam, Jon, Gill, in Whitley Bay, UK, thank you for your kindness and support.

A very special thank you to @isar.oakmund from Northern Black for your advice, inspiration, and for simply being a genuinely wonderful human being.

To @jillianthomastattoos —thank you for stepping up at the shop when we needed you most.

And finally, to my husband Danny. From the moment he called 911 until the minute I came home, he never left my side.
I will be back very soon!
