Get to know / Découvrez : Yen-Chao Lin ✨ Yen-Chao Lin’s artistic practice is grounded in an interest in what cannot be seen but can be felt. Having grown up in a multi-faith family in Taiwan, she was exposed early on to vernacular spiritual practices, belief systems, and related forms of material culture. While as an adult she examines religion and spirituality with a critical eye, these formative experiences continue to shape her work, through which she engages with divination arts, folklore, alchemy, material culture, objecthood, natural history, minerals, and landscape. Lin works across sculpture, installation, and experimental film. The exhibition illustrates the liminal moments of the morning: the quiet, rhythmic preparation before one embarks on a journey into the unknown precarity of the outside world. Heaps examines the invisible baggage that humans carry and the textile shields that they stitch together for protection. Although the individual works pulse with a dense, obsessive energy, the exhibition’s physical footprint leaves curious, perhaps unintended, swathes of empty space.” ⤷ Read the full review at the link in bio 📸 : @grantheaps, 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘚𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘺 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴, exhibition view, @redheadgallery, Richmond, 2026.
