Third-year Hofstra Law student Gemma Hoyt, a practicum student in the Defender Clinic, has been hard at work on a criminal trial in Nassau County District Court, alongside Professor Elizabeth Nevins. Our clinical students handle every aspect of trial and get invaluable hands-on experience.

“The opportunity to work on and do this trial has been one of the most rewarding experiences during my time at Hofstra Law. Working with Professor Nevins on every aspect of both the trial and the preparation for the trial, has taught me so much and has given me real-life experience of what it would be like to be a trial attorney. I was able to do voir dire, the opening statement, two cross examinations, and the summation. Being able to do all these aspects of the trial helped me to improve my trial skills that I will take with me for the rest of my future career. This was definitely the highlight of my time in law school.”

Interested in working in a clinic as a Hofstra Law student? Apply by October 28th to be considered. 🔗 Link in bio. #lawschool #HofstraLawStudents by @hofstra_law

Big firms. Big goals. First connections. 🤝⚖️

Our 1Ls took their career goals to Manhattan for Hofstra Law’s Big Firm Fair! The evening gave students a chance to meet attorneys, explore different firms and learn about opportunities for summer associates and junior attorneys.

Because it’s never too early to start building your network. ✨

Thank you to the firms and attorneys who helped our students see what’s possible!
