May not recognize his face, but you’ll certainly recognize his work. 🎥

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dean Cundey, ASC at Scarefest this past weekend, and what a treat it was! Dean is the cinematographer behind some of the most iconic films ever made, including Halloween, The Thing, The Fog, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Escape from New York, and Big Trouble in Little China, just to name a few. 🎬

Needless to say, we had a HARD time narrowing down what we wanted him to sign! We ultimately landed on four pieces:

🐕 Original The Thing one-sheet
🎃 Original Halloween Spanish one-sheet
🎃 Original Halloween II Spanish daybill
🚗 Original Back to the Future Part II Venezuelan poster

Dean was such a kind, soft-spoken gentleman. Although he wasn’t a man of many words, his sweet personality absolutely shined through. At one point, he even tried getting a laugh out of us, joking that since our Back to the Future Part II poster was in Spanish, he signed his name in Spanish, too. 😂 That sparked a story about when we met Michael J. Fox and had him sign that very same poster and he thought it was French…

Dean was easily one of our biggest draws of the entire weekend, and we were absolutely thrilled to finally meet him and add his signature to so many special pieces in our collection. He’s not someone you get the opportunity to meet every day, so we’re incredibly grateful to @scarefestweekend for bringing him out!

Paul Haley portrayed “Fatso” in Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and we were so excited to meet him at @scarefestweekend ! We’re so glad they brought so many cast members from the film, including a couple we were especially excited to add to our collection.

We always joke that everyone from this movie has incredible penmanship because seriously… how are all of their autographs SO nice?! 😂 This poster is one of our absolute favorites in our collection, an original Spanish one-sheet!

Paul was so soft-spoken and kind, and we loved adding his signature to our poster. We were the very first people at his table on Friday afternoon, and he was kind enough to give us a little freebie as a thank-you signing an 8x10 for us! 🖤

He truly made our day and was easily one of our standout interactions of the entire weekend. It’s always special meeting the people behind the films we love, and Paul made this one extra memorable! 🤡🎪

We can’t thank @scarefestweekend enough for having us! It’s going to be a great weekend, let’s gooooo 💪 by @horror.collective

Little throwback to meeting Pam Grier… and man, do we have a funny story. 😂

Zac LOVES him some Pam. She’s iconic and was an absolute babe in the ’70s/’80s/‘90s (I’ll give him that), so I can’t really blame him.

We walk up to her table, chat for a bit, and she was seriously so sweet. Then it’s time for the photo. Zac stands next to her, and Pam looks at me and goes, “You want to be in the photo too?”

Before I can even answer, Zac answers FOR me: “No.” 💀😂

I about died. We all started laughing, and Pam joked that she was going to break up a marriage. 😂

So needless to say… I’m behind the lens in this one, absolutely cackling while my husband is over there fawning over a woman in her 70s.

Never letting him live this one down. by @horror.collective

Seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the big screen at the Goochland Drive-In this weekend hit a little different. ❤️

It will always be one of my favorite movies, but after the recent passing of Tim Curry, hearing him sing “I’m Going Home” at the end brought a whole new wave of emotions I had never felt before. It was bittersweet and honestly beautiful.

Add in a beautiful night under the stars, and it was the perfect way to experience this movie that means so much to me during a time of mourning someone so iconic 🖤🎬✨

We’re SO excited to announce that we have the honor of having media badges for Scarefest Weekend this October! 🖤

Not only will this be our first time attending Scarefest, but it will also be our first time attending a convention as media — which makes this one extra special for us.

Honestly, Scarefest came along at the perfect time. We had been feeling a little stuck in a rut with conventions. We’ve loved getting to meet so many of the same incredible guests over the years, but after meeting some of them 10+ times, we were really craving something new. So, with our friend @ian_thewolfman , we came up with a game plan: let’s try Scarefest 👀

And now… WE’RE GOING! 😂

It’s a little longer of a trip than our usual convention weekends, but completely doable — and with a massive guest list that isn’t even finished yet, we couldn’t be more excited. We’re also looking forward to exploring Lexington and the surrounding area for the first time!

We’re incredibly grateful to the Scarefest team for trusting us to help cover this convention and for giving us the opportunity to bring some fresh faces, fresh content, and a little more of what we love to the convention scene.

We can’t wait to spend the weekend taking photos, making videos, editing content, hunting for VHS tapes and collectibles, meeting and interviewing celebrity guests, shopping, exploring, and documenting all the weird, wonderful, spooky, and unexpected things Scarefest has to offer. 👻📼🎥

We’re truly beyond grateful and SO excited to be a small part of it. Thank you for trusting us with this opportunity. We can’t wait to see what October brings!

And now we want to know… WHO ARE WE SEEING AT SCAREFEST?! If you’re going, come find us! Let’s hang out, take some photos, talk horror movies, and make some memories. We want to meet YOU, too! 🖤

Be sure to follow @horror.collective on Instagram & Facebook, @fileunderhorror for all our VHS hunting and haul content, and of course @scarefestweekend — the hosts of what is sure to be an unforgettable weekend!

SEE YOU AT SCAREFEST!

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Victor Miller, the screenwriter behind the original Friday the 13th and the man whose work helped introduce one of horror’s most iconic stories to generations of fans.

It feels like we’ve lost so many notable names in recent weeks, and honestly… the Grim Reaper needs to chill out.

Victor Miller’s contribution to the genre will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to live on every time horror fans gather around the screen to revisit Camp Crystal Lake.

Rest in peace, Victor Miller. Thank you for the scares and for your lasting impact on the horror community🕯️🖤 by @horror.collective

This one really got me. I’m so devastated. Truly my favorite person. Not sure I have the right words to say right now, but his work will forever be honored in our home. He meant a heck of a lot to me. Goodbye Tim Curry. by @horror.collective

Will never be another person like her. RIP Dolly 🤍 by @horror.collective
