This is what it looks like when animal lovers stand united against one of the wealthiest, exploitative industries in Australia. This Tuesday we spoke up not only for the 160 known deaths of racehorses during the 2025/26 racing year, but also for the thousands of horses who’re suffering under painful and forceful equipment every single day to make money for their owners, and the thousands who are brutally killed behind the scenes when they are no longer profitable. And we will not go away.
THANK YOU to each and every one of you who continue to show up to speak up against animal exploitation❤️‍🔥

Yesterday was a reminder of the power of community.

I’ve watched a seismic shift against horse racing over the past 10+ years.

And to see so many people come together to say Nup to the Cup and for it to now be one of Victoria’s biggest animal protection events is so heartening.

This is the kind of movement we need to see reflected in our parliament.

With the November election approaching, I’m ready to keep taking that fight into the halls of power 💜 by @horseracingkills

Being involved in the animal protection movement can be difficult.

You see things you don't want to see, and sometimes it feels hard to walk around feeling like the weight of animal suffering is on your shoudlers.

But other times, like today, buoy our spirits and remind us of how powerful this community is when we come together.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for horses this long weekend – from the parade in the CBD, to protesting at Flemington Racecourse, to the official Nup to the Cup celebration with food, DJs, stalls, guest speakers and more – you've proven that you don't need animal cruelty or gambling to have fun.

Today, and every day, #EndHorseracing 🐴 by @horseracingkills

A big shout out to everyone who said Nup to the Cup this year!

Thanks to @horseracingkills for your fearless advocacy, @thechippohotel for hosting us and @bindi.mt for the tunes.

Together we can shut down the horse racing industry 💚 by @horseracingkills

🐎Why is the racing industry not being transparent and what does CPR think about people who’re going to the races? Thanks to McKnight Tonight for inviting CPR on again to talk about the true cost of the horseracing industry and our #nuptothecup campaign leading up to the #MelbourneCup.
Make sure to watch the full interview on their YouTube channel!

6yo Pondalowie suffered a nasty fall during the 2026 Derby Day festivities yesterday. 3yo Glenorchy bled from his lungs. 3yo Meet The Prince was found to be suffering from a throat condition. Two horses suffered lacerations, one horse was lame, and another was struggling to recover after the race. None of these horses were given a choice if they wanted to participate or not.
And then there was the trainer who was found in possession of two syringes containing a drug designed to increase his horses’ blood’s oxygen carrying capacity, which significantly boosts their endurance. Both his horses were scratched from the race.
Thank you to everyone who came to speak up for the horses today. @farmtransparencyproject also came along to display some of the devastating footage from their new investigation into another illegal racehorse knackery operation, where ex-racehorses are brutally shot to be fed to racing greyhounds. Learn about their investigation via their account, and find a #nuptothecup event to join via the event link in our bio🙏
Please say #nuptothecup this spring racing carnival. Cruelty-free events are happening across Australia where you can have a good time without supporting the relentless exploitation of horses in the racing industry.

🎃 Celebrate traditions that honour life, not the ones that cause lives to end. Halloween originated from a tradition of remembering the dead and praying for departed souls.
This Halloween, we remember the thousands of racehorses who continue to be killed in the name of profit and entertainment.
In modern culture, Halloween is a celebration of horror. Today we remember the horrors that racehorses have gone through for decades at knackeries such as Peter Loffel’s.
Stand with the horses this spring racing carnival. #nuptothecup

Thank you so much to @allsprtcom for also looking into the not so glamorous side of racing! Indeed, the #nuptothecup movement is growing and the voices against the harms of racing are getting louder each day👏👏👏

“… critics cite the shocking death toll for horses on and off the race track, the 'wastage' of the industry, and the Cup's contribution to problem gambling in Australia.”

“At its core, the racing industry is one fuelled by profit off the (literal) backs of the horses that race. As a result, we can call into question the extent to which this profit is balanced with the safety and wellbeing of the horses racing.”

“These days, for every supporter of the Cup there's another alternatively saying 'Nup to the Cup.'”

Thank you so much for choosing kindness to animals and helping to grow the movement against exploitation of horses for gambling and entertainment🔥
