POSTS STORIES REELS

These are the books I think about while I’m reading other books, the books I’ve reread & want to reread (and there’s so many. Lofty, I know).

In some way, these books have been guardians, guides, friends and dear teachers. I was reflecting today how in 2017, when I graduated college, that was one of the loneliest days of my life. Following graduation, I leaned into books. I firmly believe my soul led me back to books to help me remember me.

These books, in their own way, hold stories that have pieced me back together, or they pulled my soul a part for the purpose of much needed reflection, examination, and spiritual growth. These authors and stories remind me why I love to write.

Some I vaguely remember because it’s been a few years since. But what remains is how I feel about them, how they left me. Again… the beauty of words and literature… how stories can do this to you. Some I so keenly remember.

There are a few I want to reread because I want to remember more and better. For many years, I’ve felt so out of my body—so anxious, frazzled, unfocused—that it was very challenging for me to actually digest what I’m reading. Now that I feel confident and grounded and secure in my mind, body and spirit, I deeply care about my remembrance. I want to remember these stories, these symbols, characters. And what’s brilliant is each time I’ll come back to revisit old friends and discover new ones.

That’s what’s crazy, I write this list and look around, there’s still more I’d reread and still think about. This is what I can do for now.

I am super obsessed with unpacking literature from the lens of the erōtic. I hope you enjoy! I would love to hear your thoughts! #thepictureofdoriangray #classicliterature #oscarwilde #favoriteclassics by @hot_forliterature

Galway. What a sweet dream! Picked up a new East of Eden copy because mine is falling apart and an non fic book of a renowned Aussie authors diary entry❤️‍🔥 by @hot_forliterature

The reason why many of us see erōtic and think sēx is because that is a western lens, and to be quite honest, patriarchal lens. Because under oppressive systems, it’s become taboo, something to be ashamed of. As a sēx magic guide & mentor / spiritual practitioner who works with the erōtic, I see erōticism as creative life force energy. This creative life force energy is anything that has to do with creation… and in our human existence, what drives creation? Desire, lust, craving, passion, action, expression, creativity, inspiration—which fall under categories that speak to the taboo, the yearning, the lusting, desire, meaning-making…

I reflect on my favorite books and I’m like wait they are SO erōtic… they all share a theme of “WHY ARE WE ALIVE!! WHAT GIVES US MEANING?! WHAT ARE WE HERE FOR?” And each touching upon uncovering taboos, cravings, our shadow aspects, our passions, revealing truth.

Will be speaking SO MUCH MORE ON THIS!!!!!!!!

Dublin goodies. First stop was ✨Hodges Figgis✨

Dracula by Bram Stoker - I was today years old when I learned he’s from Dublin. Driving into the city, there was this Dracula mural and I’m like alright this guy has got to be from here 😂 Also, I wanted to get this special penguin English edition. This shop has gorgeous editions!!

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde- I was actually tossing between this and an unedited version…. One that didn’t omit so much of the sexual scenes, as Wilde became a sexual icon and enemy of that era. I decided I’m going to read the classic first. I also like this edition.

The Pornographer by John McGahern - this book sounds fascinating and so does this author. This spot had an Irish section, which is brilliant. This novel touches on death and sex that kind of makes my Scorpio rising + NN sing 🥵✨🧨

Eternal Echoes by John O’Donohue - this man…. Was an angel incarnate. I read his book Anam Cara, which EVERYONE should read. His writing is my goal, his soul is painstakingly pure. He’s unfortunately an angel on the other side, but god bless he blessed us with beautiful books. This one is about belonging 😭

Which ones have you read, or adding to your list? Have you been to this bookstore? by @hot_forliterature

Hi everyone 😻😻😻😻😻Quick intro/re-intro

I wanted to reintroduce myself because I started this page I think in 2019/2020 with a clear vision. It was Dogeared Book Club for a long time. I had big dreams for it, to be this network of leaders and readers. And it was so gorgeous. And maybe in the future it will reawaken.

However, I’m so happy it brought me to this side of the internet because it opened me up to YOU—a population that is just as obsessed with literature, piling on the books, thinking about books, talking about them, looking at them, etc, like myself.

I’m here to engage for the purpose of joy, pleasure, learning and art. I see this as another avenue of my artistic expression. I also see this as another avenue of socializing. I’m not trying to make money from here (and if I do holy 🐄). This is a place to keep the innocence for me.

This is where I’ve made dear friends and where I get my book recs, for real. This is where I’ve also come across INCREDIBLE artistry… writing, graphic design, interior design, spacial design, film… like wow. You guys are truly golden. But also, the minds. The freaking intellect I’ve been introduced to. Even though DogEar dissolved, this page couldn’t. I cannot leave this side of the internet because it’s so so special.

My pipe dream is to for sure own a bookstore I’ve been talking about it for ages—I think everyone on this app is 😂

So yes, come come! I’m so down to meet and yap and scream about our sweet obsessions.

IM ALEXANDRA—AND THIS IS HOT FOR LITERATURE❤️‍🔥🫧🥵🧨📚HERE TO TALK ABOUT A V IMPORTANT BOOK. PS. Rose has incredible presence in this video. Also I really don’t care about my edits being perfect just roll with me).

THIS is one of the greatest most important books I believe of our decade, and of course, of my life.

Wild by Jay Griffiths. NON-FIC. It’s blasted my heart and soul open. It has continued to be in the rhythm of my existence since the day I picked it up. I truly think about it everyday and I legit have to take 2 year breaks to reread because it is so powerful.

This book address how oppressive systems have infiltrated spirituality, earth, societal programming and our bodies (I.e. the women’s body and existence).

I will never ever ever get over this book and I praaaayyyy someone on Book IG picks it up so someone can experience the spiritual awakening that comes from it!
