Part 3 of 3 with Blathnàid from @housebythestonebridge.

From entering her measurements online to choosing her fabric in our Naas showroom, Blathnàid found the whole process went like clockwork. Her husband fitted the roman blinds himself in about 15 minutes.

Her advice for dressing windows? Don't go too bold. Keep to a neutral tone with a hint of colour, so the blinds work with your couch and cushions as the room changes over time.

She would recommend Material World to anyone doing up or revamping a room, for the quality of the fabric, the make and the mechanisms. She's already thinking about which room to do next.

Thank you, Blathnàid, for letting us be part of your home.

Behind the scenes

So delighted with how my Roman blinds turned out. The material was sourced through @materialworldfabrics , and they have been made so beautifully the quality and finish are just gorgeous.

I wanted something timeless and sophisticated that wouldn’t date, while still giving me the flexibility to change things up with cushions and accessories over time.
I’m absolutely delighted with the finished look classic, elegant and just what I had in mind.

This old bedside locker got a completely new look with paint and I’m honestly obsessed with how it’s sitting beside the bed now.
Painted in Mouse’s Back farrow and Ball, colour matched in Colourtrend.

I’m still debating whether to change the top to a marble/voilà finish… 👀

Would you paint it or leave it as it was?

Part 2 of 3 with Blathnàid from @housebythestonebridge.

What started as the kids' den has grown into a cosy room the whole family uses, especially in winter when the fire is lit. Blathnàid wanted neutral colours that would sit with the shelving and cushions, and give her the freedom to change things over time.

On our team's advice, she chose made-to-measure roman blinds in a linen fabric, finished with a trim down each side. The texture brings a subtle country feel, and the flecks of colour in the linen pick up the couch and cushions around it. Luxurious, but still understated.

"The minute I put it up, I was over the moon."

Part 3 is coming soon, so stay tuned.

Part 1 of 3 with Blathnàid from @housebythestonebridge.

Blathnàid shares her home with her husband and four children. A health and safety manager by day, she spends her evenings and weekends on interiors.

Her style is classic with a minimalist touch, blending cosy cottage with Victorian and Georgian influences for a mix of old and new. A love of old houses from an early age meant Georgian style windows and old arches were always part of the plan when they built their home.

In part 2, you'll see how we dressed those windows. Stay tuned.

little before & after
I found this beautiful cast-iron wall mount with its original brass tap @kilkennyarchitecturalsalvage , and although it had definitely seen better days, I could see the beauty underneath all that rust.
After a good clean and a fresh coat of paint, it’s already looking so much better, but there’s still one little job to finish… I need to get the water flowing!
So It’s not quite finished yet, but every garden project has to start somewhere and will change to cream.

The End of the Hydrangea Season
It’s time to say goodbye for another year to my beautiful Hydrangea Annabelles. I’m sorry to see them go, but I did cut a few to dry and enjoy them a little longer. There’s something quite special about this season of change watching the garden slowly transform from summer into autumn.
As much as I’ll miss the blooms, there’s a beauty in autumn too… a reminder that every season has its own magic.
