At HPC, we believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to training. Our weekly programming is designed to build strength, fitness, performance, resilience and, most importantly, confidence in what your body can do. 💪🏼

From BUILD strength sessions and ENGINE conditioning to the structured intensity of EMOM, every session has a purpose and a place for everyone.

Whether you’re training for HYROX, preparing for an event, chasing a new PB or simply wanting to become fitter, stronger and more capable, HPC welcomes you.

With different training levels available in every session, you can train alongside our community while working at a level that’s right for you.

BUILD. ENGINE. EMOM.
Different ways to train. One community. 🔥

We are super pumped to announce that HYROX Performance Centre and S30 Mermaid Beach are coming together to create an epic new training facility, Hybrid Performance Centre Mermaid Beach.

We are bringing a new level of performance to Mermaid Beach, built around strength, conditioning and community like never before.

We can’t wait to welcome you all to our new space, this is only the beginning 👊

DID YOU KNOW?

If you break your HYROX wall balls down like this…

16
15
14
13
12
11
10
9

You’ve just completed 100 wall balls.

But the real question is… is it actually effective?

I always tell my athletes that we don’t know what we don’t know. And unless we’re willing to try different strategies in training, how will we ever know what’s best for us or, more importantly, what we’re truly capable of?

I stumbled across this strategy and wanted to give it a go. Not because I was convinced it was better, but because I wanted to test it for myself and see whether it was something I’d implement personally or recommend to my athletes.

My feedback?

I’m glad I tried it, but it’s probably not one I’d use again.

Compared to how I would normally break up my wall balls, this strategy added a pretty significant amount of time.

That said, I can absolutely see it working for someone who really struggles with wall balls. Mentally, breaking the reps into smaller sets and counting down is great. It makes the task feel much more manageable.

BUT… you need to be disciplined with your rest periods. Otherwise, those little breaks can quickly turn into a lot of lost time.

There are also a couple of other considerations:

* Rep quality: You need to be hitting every single rep. No missed targets, no dodgy depth, no no-reps. This strategy relies on clean, consistent wall balls.
* Rest discipline: You need to keep those transitions tight. If you’re taking too long between sets, the time savings you hoped for quickly disappear.
* Fatigue: Don’t just test this fresh. I deliberately tried it after a 60-minute threshold and overload session to replicate the fatigue and stimulus you’d experience when hitting wall balls in an actual HYROX race.

The biggest takeaway?

It’s not for me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else.

And that’s exactly why I encourage my athletes to experiment.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Try different strategies. Test them under fatigue. Collect the data. Find out what works for YOU.

Because the goal isn’t to copy what someone else does. It’s to figure out what allows you to perform at you by @hpc_mermaidbeach

WEEK 3/8 - HAMBURG MAJOR 🇩🇪

Not the result we came for, but plenty of positives to take away.

The first half went almost exactly to plan. Started at the back, stayed composed and picked off teams every run and station, we were right where we wanted to be.

The plan is simple. I control the early pace, then @cambutler_ unleashes and I hold on for dear life. 😂

But when Cam didn’t come flying past after the burpees, I knew something was wrong.

That’s doubles racing. Plans change, and suddenly it’s about finding that fine line between pushing your partner and pushing them too far. Cam can go to darker places than most, so when he’s hurting, you know it’s serious. Proud of him for digging deep. 🤝

We hit the wall balls in 6th and I remember thinking, “This actually isn’t too bad. I’ve been in this position before and gone on to win.”

But not this time.

A lot of extra wall balls and a penalty to deal with and suddenly we were on the wrong end of a finish I’ve usually come out on top of.

That one stung. And I can promise you, we won’t be letting it happen again.

A massive highlight was seeing the young guns @ralph_c_marks and @orinballl finish 7th! The discipline and commitment these boys show at such a young age is truly inspiring. One very proud coach! ❤️

The fitness is there. The strategy works. The belief hasn’t changed. Sometimes a result like this is exactly the fuel you need.

Redemption in London. 🇬🇧

Next stop, my third home. Doha, I’m back! 🇶🇦

3 weeks down. 5 to go.

LEAVE NO DOUBT.

We had every shade of pink covered for our Wear It Pink community workout 🩷

Our @hpc_gc and @hpc_mermaidbeach crews came together for an epic teams workout and raised some much needed funds for @womenscancersupport 🙌

None of this happens without our community. We’re so grateful for the ongoing support and for the way you all get around events like these. We’re lucky to be able to put them on.

Huge thanks to @taylahjoyce_ and @jesssandra for organising the event, @lozzykate13 for all the work behind the scenes, and @nicpetersoncoach for programming such an epic session. These events only happen because we have people who are passionate about bringing our communities together, supporting amazing charities and having a heap of fun while doing it 🩷

And to @womenscancersupport , thank you for letting us partner with you. We hope the funds raised help you keep supporting the women in our local community who are battling breast cancer 💪
