ABOUT JILL: Jill's local scene is Boulder and Denver, Colorado, where she’s been dancing, performing, and teaching for about 20 years. In that time, she's traveled the world as a Lindy Hopper, attending workshops and competing. She recently placed first with her partner in the Open Social competition at Stormy Weather Jazz Festival. We are SO LUCKY to have her teach with us!

Went splashing around the Philippines recently with @bigdream_boatman and it was just what the doctor ordered: kindness, laughter, flips, fishies, warm sea, dancing in the sand, singing out loud, a beanbag reading nook on top of the boat, sleeping in little beach huts, adventuresome folks, and a most capable crew with hearts of gold. First of all: US friends, please call your reps! 5calls.org link in bio. It could not be easier (or more important) to make your voice heard and potentially make a difference in our world. Also I went on a big trip. It kicked off with quite the start at Lindyfest. Next stop was LA for getting my hair did, more super fun dancing, visiting dear friends @hollielautz and @quinnlautz and their little guy (!!!), and being hosted by my sweet cousins @janetl123 and @banker3993, who took the best care of me. Then Queenstown NZ for a week with my absolute legend of a friend @foot.ling and her 4 children. Not sure how but she gets them off to school every day with all of their shoes on, sees her patients, does a little surgery, maybe a search and rescue, keeps up a gorgeous home with views from every window, and still made time for me. Love you Polly, so grateful for your friendship, already can’t wait for next time. ❤️ And next was the Philippines! I get SO nervous in competitions, but I’m SO happy with how this one shook out. 😊 Dancing with @kylermckessy is the best. He takes such great care of the partnership. I’d been hearing about this Kyler guy for months now but hadn’t danced with him until @lindyfest 2026, and I’m here to say: believe the hype!!! Also what an honor to compete before the most loving and supportive crowd of dance friends at Lindyfest! Wow. I’m grateful and lucky to be part of it. About the Teachers
Tommy Kampmann is a Lindy Hop instructor from the Boulder, Colorado swing dance community (currently based in Australia), known for his clear teaching style and focus on connection, musicality, and joyful social dancing.

Friday February 13th was the luckiest day! Because that’s when @keeezer and I brought a couple months of collaboration, choreography, smiles, and love to the stage. We truly created this together, and it couldn’t have been sweeter or more fun. When @clay.bussanich first started Lindy Hopping, I’d always ask him to dance like this: “Hey Clay, wanna play?” If ever he thought I was the most gigantic nerd, he never showed it and always said yes anyway. Since then we’ve shared countless wonderful dances, practices, and hangs. Clay is a devoted dancer, often driving two hours there and back for a Lindy Hop night. ❤️ Plus he’s playful, creative, collaborative, attentive, and the sensei of slides. So, I was really happy when at the last minute, he said yes to playing in the Strictly with me at @stormyweatherjazzfest! We made finals, and here is our spotlight. It’s awesome to be at an event like Stormy Weather meeting and dancing with great new people, but it’s also sweet to share the experience with your homies from home. taken in Seattle, Washington by @swingoutsouthfl

I do think it would have been a dreamy good time at @stormyweatherjazzfest regardless. I mean, you put together musicians playing their hearts out, plus dancers throwing down, plus everyone being friendly and kind, plus event details thoughtfully executed, plus teachers giving passionately? Wow. It’s bound to be nothing but lovely. But ya know, also, I gotta say, winning first place in this contest with @bentoddart didn’t hurt either! ☺️ Thanks Ben! You’re a sweet human being and a super fun, groovy, connected, and powerful dancer. Birthday Story: 352 BPM! This is the last round of the Fast Feet Competition at @hjj_cmd. After @clay.bussanich and I narrowly eked out the victory, a random and super sweet gal at the event congratulated us and added “…but there’s talk going around that you’re like 50 years old, is that true?” To which I replied, “Actually 56 going on 57. It’s so much worse!” She then needed to sit down. She asked for further clarification and to see my driver’s license. All I can say is, thanks everyone for the sweet birthday wishes, and thanks random gal for your utter disbelief.
