POSTS STORIES REELS

Our new artwork ‘Processing Dreams’ will be on display at Persistence Works Gallery as part of Festival of the Mind, 6–15 November (Tuesday–Saturday 11am–5pm, Sunday 11am–4pm, closed Monday).

A collaboration with @steve.maddock (University of Sheffield) contemplating the complex issues surrounding the use of AI in the creative industries and wider society.

As physical and digital spaces increasingly overlap, ‘Processing Dreams’ questions the impact of mixed reality on individual and collective memory. The artwork features familiar Sheffield locations incorporating the latest developments in computer science and games engine technology.

Reconstructing the past. Re-examining the present. Reimagining the future.

The People’s Market is an augmented reality trail in Lincoln’s town centre, opening a window onto stories of activism, resistance and collective action, from the 1800s to the present day.

Through virtual market stalls uncover the people and movements that have helped shape our society. Developed with local communities, the experience brings together shared stories, voices and ideas to explore Lincoln’s history.

Had a great day running workshops in Lincoln yesterday – exploring activism, demystifying XR, and thinking about how technology can be used to build empathy and connection.

These sessions are part of our work for Reimagining Lincolnshire, a public heritage project uncovering the untold stories that have shaped the county’s identity, celebrating the voices, places, and histories that are often overlooked. by @human___studio

The beautiful badge designs made by participants at our workshop at @frequencyfestival in Lincoln a couple of weeks ago.

Using badge-making as a creative tool we explored everyday activism, opening up conversations about the issues people care about most. The designs are going to be used as part of a wider experience looking at the history of activism in Lincolnshire. by @human___studio

Today we're in Lincoln for @frequencyfestival making badges on the theme of everyday activism for our new AR project The People's Market, a commission from Reimagining Lincolnshire which explores causes and issues that have mattered to people in the past and today ✊ by @human___studio

Coming soon to Copenhagen! 🇩🇰 Coded Black has been selected for INTER:ACTIVE – part of the @cphdox documentary festival – an exhibition that probes the intersection of creativity and technology, exploring how emerging technologies are reshaping art and society.
This year's exhibition is titled HYPERVIGILANCE.

Curatorial statement by Mark Atkin:

In an age of digital saturation, global unrest, and pervasive surveillance, artists are increasingly exploring the cultural and psychological state of hypervigilance that seems to define our era. The works in this year’s INTER:ACTIVE Exhibition expose the collective anxiety of a society on high alert, where we struggle to retain agency over our image, body, and voice. For queer, disabled, and displaced communities, this state of watchfulness is deeply ingrained, a survival instinct in a world built on scrutiny and exclusion. For others, it has become the new norm shaped by 24-hour news cycles, extractive capitalism, authoritarian violence, and the pressure to conform in a world where we’re always being watched.

The artists in HYPERVIGILANCE expose and reconfigure these conditions allowing us to take back control through activism, sexual expression, defiance, and artistic invention. Across immersive experiences and multisensory installations, HYPERVIGILANCE transforms this psychological unease into aesthetic inquiry, taking us from anxiety to agency, capturing both the disquiet of the present and the human drive toward reconnection. by @human___studio
