CBC Week… meet TechWalk. 👟💻🌿

For the FIRST TIME, we’re bringing @techwalk.co to CBC Week in Washington, D.C.!

And as the DC Chapter Director, I’m excited about this one. 🥹

CBC Week brings thousands of Black leaders, professionals, founders and changemakers into our city—and in between the panels, receptions, meetings and parties, we’re creating some space to MOVE + CONNECT.

No ballroom.
No conference table.
Just good people, fresh air and real conversation.

And I won’t be walking alone. 👀

I’m bringing some amazing DMV energy with our co-hosts:

✨ Nina Archie — innovation advisor, startup ecosystem connector + Founder of Innovator Connector

🎥 Folasade’ Ogunmokun — Founder of UnskryptedTV + creative storyteller and community builder

🤝 Joe Randolph — Microsoft Director by day, leadership coach + entrepreneur, and podcast host, by night. Where tech, business, politics & culture collide. Joe is all about bringing conversations around tech, business, politics and culture together while empowering others to reach their full potential.

☁️ Anthony Carter — AWS tech professional bringing the cloud crew energy to the pavement

…and me 🙋🏾‍♀️ Ayanna, your TechWalk DC Chapter Director + Founder of Tech Wellness Society.

CBC Week is already about ideas, relationships, leadership and community.
We’re just adding a few steps to it. 😉🚶🏾‍♀️

📅 Friday, September 18
📍 Washington, D.C.

Sometimes the moments that feel like they’re breaking you are actually the moments that begin building the life you’ve been praying for.

A closed door isn’t always a rejection. Sometimes it’s God’s redirection.

After being laid off in 2025, I had every reason to play it safe. Instead, I chose to bet on myself.

Over the last year, I’ve built businesses, immersed myself in AI and cloud computing, earned certifications, attended conferences, expanded my network, and embraced opportunities that stretched me beyond what I thought was possible.

Along the way, I’ve battled doubt, seasons of depression, blind ambition, and pride. There were moments I questioned my purpose, tried to force doors open that weren’t meant for me, and wondered if I was falling behind.

But God has a way of using every season, especially the difficult ones; to shape who we’re becoming.

Not every venture succeeded. Not every prayer was answered when I wanted. Not every season made sense.

Looking back now, I realize God wasn’t just preparing an opportunity for me, He was preparing me for the opportunity.

Today, I’m incredibly humbled and grateful to accept and begin a new chapter in Big Tech👨🏾‍💻 w/ Amazon Web Services (AWS)

This opportunity is more than a new role. It’s the result of faith, preparation, resilience, and countless people who supported my vision along the way.

To everyone who poured into me, my family, friends, mentors, colleagues, and the people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself, thank you.
Your encouragement, wisdom, and prayers helped carry me through.

And to the friendships that naturally ran their course, thank you too.
Every season, every conversation, and every relationship taught me something I needed.
I carry gratitude for what was and peace about what’s ahead.

If you’re walking through uncertainty right now, don’t waste the season. Keep learning. Keep showing up. Keep investing in yourself. Trust God’s timing, even when you can’t yet see the reason.

One day you’ll look back and realize the setbacks weren’t stopping your story, they were shaping it.

The story is just getting started.

So I set a PR this weekend.🌸🥂 @cucb
W/ sub 9:30 MI🏃🏽‍♂️💨
for my first Cherry Blossum
My SLOWEST timed 10Mi Race EVER😂….

Fresh off the couch w/ no training blocks in 3months🥷🏽🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

I got placed in an elite heat , which was a very appreciated honor…
but honestly, that wasn’t the biggest takeaway.

Most people probably wouldn’t celebrate this.

But for me, it was about showing up anyway.
Finishing something I didn’t fully prepare for.
Pushing through when my body didn’t feel it’s greatest,
and reminding myself that some days you don’t get ideal conditions…

And being out there with everyone
that energy, that community, that shared push
that’s what carried me.

you just have to decide to keep going & callous your mind

In the words of @davidgoggins
embrace the suck😤🧱

Grateful for the experience.
Back to work. 🏁

Dear Black man🖤

Today I took a moment just for me. I got a massage gave myself space to breathe, heal, and reset while I sat down and listened to one of Myron Golden’s talks. What he said reminded me that your peace matters just as much as your purpose.

Self-care isn’t soft — it’s foundational.
It’s not optional — it’s necessary.
If you don’t care for yourself, you’ll be exhausted before you fully step into your destiny.

Here’s what stood out:

✨ You must value yourself — not just your potential or your productivity, but your well-being first. Rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement.

✨ Become the kind of man who invests in his own growth — spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially. Myron talks about mastery — not mastery of others, but mastery of yourself — because that’s where true wealth starts.

✨ Real success is measured by impact, not just income — when you create value for others, greatness naturally follows. The work you do in silence — self-reflection, healing, prayer, rest — prepares you to show up stronger.

✨ *Don’t chase “busy.” Seek better.”
Better balance.
Better health.
Better peace.
Better relationships.

So if you’re grinding, building, hustling
keep going. But hear this:

🧠 Your mind needs stillness.
❤️ Your body needs care.
🌱 Your spirit needs grounding.

Take time today to ask:
Are you feeding your soul as much as you’re feeding your ambition?

Real strength isn’t how much you can carry , it’s how well you carry yourself.

Stand tall. Rest when you need to.
Grow daily.
And remember you deserve care, community, peace, and purpose. ✊🏾 by @humble_winner_

2nd Annual Holiday 5K 🏃🏾‍♂️🎄

The greatest gift is being able to move.

To rise 🌅
To breathe deeply 🌬️
To take another step forward 👣

This season, may we never take movement, health, or community for granted.
May our bodies stay strong 💪🏾, our minds stay clear 🧠, and our paths stay guided ✨

Less noise. More purpose.

The Recovery Room is redefining what community looks like for Black men in the DMV.

Through honesty, connection, and authentic conversation, we’re building something powerful. Space to heal, to release, to recharge, and to rise.

This is more than a moment. It’s a movement. And every brother who walks through the door is part of the story.

Honored to be the first guest speaker of the year for the Brother’s Sticking Together program at Westlake High School 🩶📈

This wasn’t just a talk — it was a masterclass on financial psychology , Our session introduced over 30 young men from 9th through 12th grade to unpack their beliefs about money, mindset, and success.

Representing Humble Health & Wealth, we focused on how to turn financial awareness to confidence, and confidence into legacy. 💭💰

I told them:

“You don’t have to be rich to start thinking rich — you just have to start now.”

Grateful to pour into the next generation of leaders, athletes, and entrepreneurs and even more grateful to see how they showed up with focus, honesty, and brotherhood.
