I’ve long been fascinated by the process of “becoming”. I often become frustrated in feeling like I’m not becoming whatever I’m supposed to be, fast enough. But then when I watch my own girls grow, make mistakes and learn from it, my heart swells with happiness in who they’re becoming.
I imagine we’re all learning more than we realize, growing faster than we recognize and are becoming just who we need to be, when we are to be. 🤍

The beginnings of Woven Vessels, series 3. A collaboration of two artists, and two mediums. I love what clay and reed become together. As always, woven by the talented @robinhallwrites
Whenever she finishes her weavings, I find myself back in my studio, just to peek at these bespoke woven vessels.

Woven Vessels come from two women who wanted to create and collaborate with ceramics and weaving. The clay and reed are natural elements, that come from the earth. Woven together, these vessels represent the connectivity between our land and our hand as we throw and weave together.
We hope we can bring beauty to your home and a bit of happiness to your life through these bespoke woven vessels.

These lovely woven baskets will be added to my shop hyacinthceramics.com tomorrow morning 9am. Can’t wait to see where they go home to!

These little hands aren’t here to create a vase or a mug. They’re here just for the experience. For the smooth clay gliding through their hands. The mud squishing between their fingers. The wonder of watching their hands magically alter the clay as it spins. It’s a sensory feast for these little humans who have no finished product in mind. They’re simply here for the joy of clay. And when a tiny, wonky little pot comes off the wheel, they’re absolutely delighted.
It’s simply beautiful.

I think I envy their experience of art in its purest form. No pressure or expectation. No finished product to chase. Just hands in clay, curiosity, and joy. Create just to create.

I just added a handful of new classes to my website! There are a few spots left in some upcoming classes, and I’d love to have more friends join me in the studio. As requested, I added a Women’s Holiday Clay Class series in November and another Parent + Child Clay Class!

We had our first women’s clay class this past week, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of my week. I love sharing a creative space with the loveliest people. Creating + connecting really does feed my soul. Thank you so much for coming into my little ceramics studio, supporting my work, and making this space what it is. It means the world to me. 💛

… how adorable are these little hands together on the pottery wheel from preschool clay class yesterday?!?! I just love them. by @hyacinthceramics

These wishkeepers are magical and whimsy. I love making them, love this tradition, and love seeing them in your homes! Really, it’s a true delight seeing wishkeepers on your birthday cakes!! Makes my whole heart smile ☺️
Sorry it takes me 8 years to make one. Mostly because I birth a child or take a nap between each step. I’m all done having my babies, but still taking naps! So back to the studio with me. 😆 I’m excited to come back to a creative clay practice and make more wishkeepers. More wishkeepers, more art, more good for the soul things that gives life back its whimsy! Thanks for wanting whimsy and wishkeepers in your life. 🫶🏻

And, Happy birthday to my Harvey!!! He is one of the greatest creation treasure joy wondrous humans of my life!!! I still swoon over him. Happy birthday my boy!! 💙 by @hyacinthceramics

Happy back to school! by @hyacinthceramics

I’m absolutely delighted my series, My Body is a Vessel, has been accepted into the Durham Art Guild show Holding Space: the Art of Care. These vessels are a self-portrait series, a sculptural body of work about seeing my own vessel in its purpose and beauty with all the rolls, bulges and imperfections, after the many years of pregnancy, nursing and postpartum. I could talk for days about the beauty and purpose in a woman’s body, right alongside women’s mental health as I went through postpartum depression with each of my babies. I see the beauty in motherhood and caretaking, with the hard. This series for me is seeing and celebrating both.
Our bodies are beautiful vessels, bulges, marks, imperfections and all! I consider it an honor to be part of this beautiful show! Come see all the art at Truist Gallery in Durham. Exhibition dates: September 18 - November 29, 2026
Public 3rd Friday receptions: September 18 (opening), October 16, November 20 from 6-8pm #pottery

I adore making these memory keepers with my girls! Little momentos from a beautiful time spent together. For me, holding onto a piece of a moment is how I might get to hold it forever.
These memory keepers are one of my favorite things to give friends and family, a visual place to hold souvenirs from their memories. I love the gift of memory. We move so quickly through our days and to do lists. These memory keepers ask us to stop and remember the beautiful memories we created, pause and let a tangible token of the past breathe back beauty into your day. The ordinary can somehow become profound.

There’s a small batch of memory keepers available on my website for all those summer adventures. Hope you’re savoring the summer sun and squeezing in the last few days of summer!

What’s one of your favorite family vacations spots? We loved going to Hilton Head this summer! Emerald Isle, way down at the point, is our favorite North Carolina beach spot.

A place to hold the souvenirs of our memories, the treasures of our adventures. A Memory Keeper.
Because these little things may look like rocks and shells…they also hold memories!
Memory keepers are a place to fill our hearts and home with the beauty we brought to our family.

I’d love to hear one of your favorite memories or adventures from this summer! by @hyacinthceramics

I’m SO excited to get back into clay classes this fall! I can’t wait to create with you and your little artists again.

The women’s clay class is always one of the highlights of my week, and looking back through photos from the past few years, my heart is absolutely overflowing with gratitude.

Gratitude for the creativity.
Gratitude for the laughter.
Gratitude for the friendships.
And gratitude for the incredible little community we’ve created around a shared love of clay. 🤍

I feel so lucky to have a front-row seat to the art that comes to life in my studio. Watching you walk in with an idea and leave with something you made with your own two hands is one of my favorite things. ✨

I’ll be sharing the fall clay class schedule soon!!
Drop your favorite emoji below if you love clay! I CAN’T WAIT FOR CLAY CLASS!!! ❤️

If a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance, a group of giraffes is a tower, if lions are in a pride and elephants are in a parade…what do we call a group of wishkeepers?
