Renovating our 1960s bungalow around our full time jobs šŸšļøšŸ”

Saturday shift complete and another garage transformed! šŸ A custom modular floor installation completed earlier today for @hyde2home , featuring a striking red and dark grey design, with a track inspired entrance ā€“ the perfect home for the car thatā€™s going to live in there! Harry has opted to fit a skirting board tight to the flooring which will allow our tiles the expansion room needed and will give a really clean finish. Also on his list to do is some lighting, racking and a few other finishing touches, but itā€™s amazing how a new floor can completely transform the look and feel of a garage. We canā€™t wait to see the finished project šŸ‘ŒšŸ» Donā€™t forget itā€™s not just about looks! Our modular flooring is durable, practical, easy to maintain and built for everyday garage use. Thinking about transforming your garage? We offer a FREE floor design and quotation service, with both fully fitted or supply-only options available. šŸ“© Get in touch and letā€™s create your dream garage! šŸŒ www.somersetspeedshop.co.uk #SomersetSpeedShop #SomersetBusiness #GarageTransformation #GarageFlooring #ModularFlooring by @hyde2home
Still trying to finish off the last of the summer jobs! The main task was removing the old single pane window and door in the living room (which will eventually be our kitchen/diner) and replacing them both with these gorgeous new double sliding doors! Not only are they going to make the room so much warmer for us this winter, but theyā€™re also going to make such a difference to the noise levels. Nelly has already snozzed her nose all over them and officially christened them, and we can now watch our resident squirrel, Poot, so much easier! šŸæļø by @hyde2home
Wowowow, what a week for the outdoors! Weā€™re trying to get as many outdoors jobs done before the weather changes. The rear decking has been dismantled and the majority of our garden has been levelled and seeded, with a small section left as woodchip. AND!! New drainage has been dug for a soakaway AND!! Our garage has a new roof, so Harry can finally bring his car home! Crackersā€¦ I included some pictures as a reminder of what the garden looked like 9 months ago. Perhaps I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel?! šŸ«¶ by @hyde2home
I can tell you how much a Stairway to Heaven costsā€¦šŸ’° The last few weekends have consisted of stripping wallpaper (or at least attempting to) and ripping up carpet in preparation for our new stairs, which were finally installed last week. First pic is when we first moved in, wish the house still looked up together like this! Itā€™s very nice not to feel like weā€™re going to break our necks every time we walk upstairs, can I pick some paint colours yet?! šŸ¤”šŸ„¹ by @hyde2home
Service announcement šŸ“¢ Itā€™s been a little while since our last update, but weā€™re delighted to say the entire roof has now been re-felted, battened, tiled and clad. Definitely been a long few months but feels so good to get the scaffolding down at lastšŸ„¹ by @hyde2home
Itā€™s been a while since out last update, but March has been a whirlwind! Things are really starting to come together the house is now almost watertight, and the entire rear roof has been re-felted. Weā€™ve also got new floorboards and beams in what will be our future bedroom, and best of allā€¦ the Velux windows are in (my favourite part!) Thereā€™s still a long way to go, but itā€™s so exciting seeing the our vision slowly come to life šŸ«¶ by @hyde2home
Nothing says Valentineā€™s Day quite like knocking down walls together šŸ˜ Today we said goodbye to the final bit of chimney and wall, officially opening up whatā€™s currently our kitchen and living room and what will soon be our dream kitchen diner. Itā€™s been a dusty, messy day but weā€™re so chuffed to have reached this stage. Now itā€™s time to swap demolition for some real romance ā€” a KFC in bed as itā€™s our only habitable room until we clean properly tomorrow and catching up on Love IslandšŸļø Happy Valentineā€™s Day Mr C. Thank you for building this life (and house) with me. Love you lots šŸ©· by @hyde2home
Swipe right for the before šŸ§± What a Sunday, the chimney breast has been removed! Bricks were thrown off the roof, out the window, and down the stairs in buckets šŸŖ£ Already loving how much bigger the bedroom and en-suite feelā€¦ shame itā€™s Monday tomorrow šŸ˜“ by @hyde2home
Itā€™s funny that most of the money weā€™ve spent so far has gone on the gardenā€¦ and itā€™s January!! We finally got round to clearing the last of the brambles and overgrown bits so we could finish our mighty fortress fence. There was so much to get rid of that we had to hire a chipper there was no way we were shifting it otherwise. The chipper was great fun and has only added to our ever-growing woodchip pile šŸ˜‚ by @hyde2home
Wow, weā€™ve had a busy Christmas! First of multiple posts.. Weā€™ve not only been prepping the house for our new heating system going in next week (!!!), but weā€™ve also made a bit of a change to the downstairs layout. Originally, we were going to knock down the left wall to make one big living room, but we realised it would actually be way bigger than we need. So instead, weā€™re making use of the unused ā€œdining hallā€ aka the ridiculously large entrance hallway and turning it into a new room. For now itā€™ll be a ā€œstudyā€ā€¦ aka Harryā€™s Xbox room, and a place to hide all the stuff we donā€™t want in the living room! šŸ„³šŸ¾ by @hyde2home
Chaos continuesā€¦ Not just the garage roof leaking but also the main roof over the living room! Oh and part of the fascia board came off in last nightā€™s wind All jobs we know needed doing but we thought weā€™d had until springā€¦ fun by @hyde2home
Trees are gone! Posting this totally out of order, but here we are šŸ˜‚ Not anti-tree, I promise. We still have a few on the side of the house. The ones in front hadnā€™t been maintained for years and most were rotting or unsafe. Sneak peek of the new fence at the end ā€” more coming soon šŸŖµšŸŖ by @hyde2home
