Is there a recipe you wish you’d asked about while you still could? 🎃

My grandma made a rice pilaf with dried fruit and nuts. She changed it, depending on what she had, and it always tasted like fall. Now I wonder if it was her version of ghapama. I wish I had asked her.

Ghapama is a whole pumpkin stuffed with basmati rice, dried apricots, cranberries, walnuts, almonds, honey, and orange juice, baked until it’s soft enough to cut with a spoon. For generations, Armenians made it for the harvest and the New Year. Today in Armenia it’s a fall favorite, and here in America, so many of our families bring it to Thanksgiving right next to the turkey.

If someone in your family still makes theirs, ask them. Make sure to write it down. 🧡

Comment GHAPAMA and I’ll send you the recipe.

Meet Arlena Khachatryan, an Armenian woman entrepreneur and creator of Gaya-Zatik 🐞, an interactive educational toy for children in the Armenian language. Arlena was inspired by her daughter to create a product that helps Armenian children growing up abroad stay connected to their language, culture, and identity. ✨

Through HyeConnect, Arlena hopes to connect with fellow Armenians, build meaningful relationships across generations, and strengthen the Armenian community’s collective voice around the world.

We were delighted to participate in the Armenia–Diaspora Education Dialogue, an initiative of the 405 Educational Alliance, hosted at the @agbuarmenia office.

The gathering brought together representatives from Armenian educational, community, and diaspora organizations for an inspiring exchange of ideas and visions for the future of Armenian education.

It is our pleasure to see HyeConnect grow into a connecting point and potential hub for diaspora educational organizations, where institutions can come together, strengthen partnerships, and turn shared goals into meaningful collaboration.

📚🇦🇲
