It’s been 18 months since I had surgery, to alleviate one of my kidneys from my body, so that another could benefit from it. Weird way to say I donated a kidney 😁. On March 4th, 2024 the Ohio Garrison - 501st Legion came together to gove myself and Drew an Imperial Escort to the hospital, after my continued insistence that I was going to show up to surgery in my TIE pilot costume out of being nervous of my first real surgery. This of course lead to the media getting involved, anSarah-Josh Donley-Bealetion, which was out of my comfort zone, but i was determinedto see things to the end.

Attention like that feels alien to me, makes me a bit uncomfortable. Which is one of the reasons why when i decided to get tested to see if i could be a donor, Ikept quiet aboit it. Granted, i discussed this with my partner, but that was more of a having someone to talk about it with. The testing was such long and thorough process, with more medical teats than I ever had in my entire life. And even though Josh and Angie knew there was a candidate going through the testing stages, they didnt lnow that i was the phantom donor 😄. It wasnt untill it was decided thst I was indeed that perfect match, that i revealed to Josh that I was that candidate.

I’ve no regrets on my decision and I’ve suffered no negative changes to having the surgery. And to anyone who is healthy, I ask that you consider getting tested to see if you too can become a Living Kidney Donor.

After all, the sacrifice you’ll make is nothing, but you will be offering up the world to another.
