The Alaska Range. Whoa. by @iamandypaul

Alignment of good partners/friends, weather, snow. The best. by @iamandypaul

I haven’t posted here in some time.

The echo chamber, the vortex, the Matrix. Whatever I write here…it doesn’t really matter. Because I’m just one name, one life, one person.

McKinley. McKinley was one name, one person. A member of the legislature and would be President from Ohio. He never even came to Alaska. Like Trump, he saw this place as a $ sign. No sense of the people nor the land. Let Alaskans decide what Alaska is.

The Great One.

The Mountain is called Denali. Thousands of years, generations have called it that. That’s what it’s called.

What’s more powerful, a name of a person or inter generational place based continuity? by @iamandypaul

2/27/24 Pro Observation:

From Fishhook Lot toured up 4068. We invited two Argentinians from the avalanche center in Bariloche @avalanchasbariloche who recently took their Professional Level 1 Avalanche Course with Alaska Avalanche School to join for the day. The four of us took a lap on the southern face (Sunnyside) towards Frostbite and second down Wimp Bowl. We wanted to look for poor snowpack structure, lingering wind slabs, and persistent weak layers/grains that could contribute to instability. We found nothing alarming and great conditions on our descent.

Alaska Summer 2023 Rewind.

Mishaps, loss and lots of joy in the mountains this year. Learned more than I knew I would. Thanks to everyone who played a part.

Winter gifts 🎁: Teton coldsmoke 💨 ❄️ and heaps of friends. Deep gratitude for all the people who made this possible.

With the near 40 day drought we experienced in the Sierra this winter, getting a taste of late season powder feels like an extra special treat. “What will future winters look like?” We should all be asking ourselves. In the mean time, feeling lots of gratitude to enjoy a little bit of the deep stuff with old friends. by @iamandypaul

According to the National Center for Atmospheric Research for Statewide Snowpack after the 17 foot December-New Year storm, California was at 160% of snowpack.

Cue some of the driest and hottest January and February conditions. While we are enjoying plenty of base and midwinter 🌽 corn to ski, the extremes of climate change are abundantly clear here in California.

We don’t have time for more “blah, blah, blah” to quote @gretathunberg. We need courageous climate policy, to immediately support our grassroots BIPOC movements and to make sweeping cultural changes on how we look at our relationship with the planet.

Sliding on snow feels like a fleeting, at times absurd activity. Our little snow globe 🌎 is in big trouble. by @iamandypaul

As 2021 draws to a close I’m beyond grateful for the experiences, opportunities and support I’ve received. I had some expected and unexpected adventures, moved around (a lot!) and some highs and lows. Couldn’t be more excited for community and winter in California. by @iamandypaul
