"I am not sure that I exist, actually. I am all the writers that I have read, all the people that I have met, all the cities I have visited."

"It is as if the people who inhabit the streets, inspired by some mysterious wisdom, realise that the true history of Calcutta has always been written in the invisible tales of its spirits and unspoken curses.”

Fairy tales in childhood are stepping stones throughout life, leading the way through trouble and trial. The value of fairy tales lies not in a brief literary escape from reality, but in the gift of hope that goodness truly is more powerful than evil and that even the darkest reality can lead to a Happily Ever After. Do not take that gift of hope lightly. It has the power to conquer despair in the midst of sorrow, to light the darkness in the valleys of life, to whisper “One more time” in the face of failure. Hope is what gives life to dreams, making the fairy tale the reality.

"Those places where sadness and misery abound are favoured settings for stories of ghosts and apparitions. Calcutta has countless such stories hidden in its darkness, stories that nobody wants to admit they believe but which nevertheless survive in the memory of generations as the only chronicle of the past. It is as if the people who inhabit the streets, inspired by some mysterious wisdom, relalise that the true history of Calcutta has always been written in the invisible tales of its spirits and unspoken curses."

I lost my way, I forgot to call on your name. The raw heart beat against the world, and the tears were for my lost victory. But you are here. You have always been here.

The world is all forgetting, and the heart is a rage of directions, but your name unifies the heart, and the world is lifted into its place.

- Leonard Cohen by @iamcalcutta

So close you look past me when wondering where I am. It's okay.

But feel me now, walking the chambers of your heart, pressing my palms to the soft walls of your living.

Will you come with me to the mountains? It will hurt at first, until your feet are hardened. Reality is harsh to the feet of shadows. But will you come?

“I think we forget things if we have no one to tell them to.”

This line from the movie, The Lunchbox, captures the most poignant meaning of life. Our life is a journey of experiences, some grandeur and some simple. Most of them blur together and are not worth reminiscing in solitary air. Rather, those moments gain permanence in our minds when it finds an eager listener. That is when those moments which were once so very small, are immortalised and elevated because it finally has company. What is life if not just a desperate plea to be listened to? by @iamcalcutta

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
and company doesn’t mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
if you get too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure that you really are strong and that you really do have worth. And you learn and you learn
with every goodbye you learn...
