Is your child’s IEP or 504 Plan truly meeting their needs? Don’t wait until the next annual meeting to find out. On April 13th, Advocates for Educational Excellence is hosting a “Special Education Essentials” session at the Garfield Public Library. This is more than just a lecture, it’s a practical roadmap for families and community members who want to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed. What you’ll walk away with: 1 Understand how the IEP and 504 Plan process really works. 2 Learn your rights and your child’s rights. 3 Gain actionable strategies for overcoming common challenges. 4 Strengthen communication with teachers and school administrators. "I know my child needs help, but I don't know how to make the school listen..." When your child is struggling to read by the end of 3rd grade, time is the one thing you don't have. Yet, many parents find themselves stuck behind administrative "red tape" or confusing legal jargon. Advocacy isn't just about asking for help; it’s about knowing which doors to knock on and which laws to cite. Whether you're being ignored or just overwhelmed by the paperwork, you don't have to carry the burden of being an expert on the system and a parent at the same time. Which hurdle are you currently facing? #specialeducation #educationaladvocacy #IEPPlanning #studentsuccess by @iamtrinajones
"He’s so smart, he just won’t do the work." We hear this from parents every day. But here is a secret… No 8-year-old wants to fail. When a child avoids reading, it’s usually because their brain is working twice as hard as their peers just to keep up. By the end of 3rd grade, the "Wait and See" approach becomes a "Wait and Fail" approach. Don't let your child be a statistic. Let's find out what's really going on behind the "laziness." 💡📖 Take the first step toward the support your child deserves. Visit aee-group.org to book a consultation with our advocacy team today. #specialeducation #dyslexiaparent #IEPhelp #readingstruggles #parentadvocate by @iamtrinajones
Third grade is a major turning point in a child’s education. Up until this stage, children are learning how to read. After 3rd grade, they are expected to read in order to learn everything else- from science to history to maths problems. When a child struggles with reading at this point, it can affect their confidence, participation in class, and ability to keep up with lessons. Some early signs parents may notice include: - Avoiding reading. - Difficulty sounding out words. - Getting frustrated with homework. - Reading far below grade level. The encouraging news is that early support can make a life-changing difference. If you’re a mom noticing these struggles in your child, you’re not alone and support is available. Connect with us at www.aee-group.org and book a consultation to learn how we can support your child’s learning journey. Early support changes everything. #readingdevelopment #educationadvocacy #readinghelp #parentsupport #earlyintervention #learningdifferences #specialeducationadvocate #parentadvocacy #childdevelopment #readingstruggles #educationmatters by @iamtrinajones
A Letter to the mothers! To all the amazing moms whose children face learning challenges, you are seen, you are valued, and you are not alone. Every child learns differently, and every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating. Trust in your child’s unique journey, and know that your patience, advocacy, and love make all the difference. Remember: challenges do not define your child…they reveal strength, resilience, and endless potential. 🌈 Together, we can create opportunities, find resources, and champion the success your child deserves. Keep believing, keep advocating, and keep celebrating every milestone, no matter how small.💙 by @iamtrinajones
