What does autumn mean to you?

We put this question to our community.

One of the joys of our ritual is our closeness to the season. Every degree in the pool, the feel of the air, the colour of the trees, the patterns in the sky: each week we’re invited to notice them. Noticing gives us a slower moment before days that tend to move fast.

We’d love more men to join us.
All men are welcome.
DM us for details.

First Dip of Winter 🌊❄️

Two London cold water communities, one Sunday morning.

On 1 November, @icebreakers.northlondon and @chilly.dippers are teaming up to welcome in the colder months together, and it also happens to be IceBreakers North London’s third birthday, so there’ll be cake 🎂

We’ll start with some movement and breathwork to warm up, get in the water together, and then gather for coffee and conversation. Whether you’ve been dipping for years or have never been in, there’s a place for you. Getting in is entirely optional; turning up is the main thing.

Hosted by @livsharron and @simon_j_lamb

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. Community plays a vital role is staying healthy. It’s what makes my work with @icebreakers.northlondon so fulfilling.

Find your people and be there for each other. It really does matter.

We gathered with the leaders of the seven other chapters of IceBreakers for 24 hours of living the charity’s purpose: time in community, nature, cold water, and movement. Believing that doing so keeps us well and hopeful.

It was bonding, energising and educational to learn from our friends across the country. What’s working well? Where could we evolve? What are we struggling with? Why are we doing this?

That last question answered itself in the feeling we all left with: in challenging times, we need these rituals of belonging to ground, support and encourage us.

Every week, the same ritual, a different experience.

All men welcome. by @icebreakers.northlondon

The shoulder seasons always feel like an exciting moment, but particularly this transition from summer into autumn. The crisp coolness of the morning air is a hint of the colder months which lie ahead. The months where @icebreakers.hq and its chapters across the country live up to their name!

The transition is also a good moment for our men. We notice in our ‘check in’ round a pattern of people coming back to their routines, their rhythms, their practices, and of course their rituals, like ours.

This video – made by the brilliant @jackconanburke – one of our Leaders at @icebreakers.northlondon – is a beautiful snapshot of our weekly ritual. It is the same process each week, but the experience is constantly in flux: the men who gather, the time of year, the temperature of the water, and the weather in the skies.

If you – or a man you know – might be interested, then we’d love a DM. All men are welcome. by @icebreakers.northlondon

Autumn Camp is getting close. 🍂

2nd-4th October, we’re heading back to Campwell Farm for a weekend away from the everyday.

Cold water, movement, fires, great food, time outside and proper connection with other men.

Come on your own or come with a mate. You don’t need any experience and you don’t need to know anyone before you arrive.

Places are still available, but Camp is getting close - now’s the time to book.
