For three years, we’ve gathered on Halloween night to restart what gay patrons did to honor one of the first gay bars in San Francisco. I think it’s safe to say it’s officially restarted. We started by making bouquets and then laid them outside the site of the bar in North Beach. Then we shared stories of the Black Cat’s heroism as it won early legal challenges against queer spaces. It’s vital we remember and celebrate these spaces as they continue to close due to gentrification, a fraying social fabric, and the looming threat of convenient apps over interpersonal friction. by @icsf1965

Imperial Crown Prince 2022-2023 Todd Hotty, in conjunction with Their Most Imperial Majesties Emperor John Brett and Regent Empress Queen Cougar and the Imperial Council of San Francisco present Paint the Empress: A Golden Gate Gaymes Takeover! 🎨 How will you paint Her Imperial Majesty? Join Todd Hotty for his 3rd Annual Paint and Sip Night at The Lookout SF! ❤️‍🔥 For a suggested donation of $10, we’ll give you a canvas, brushes, and paint, and you’ll bring your creativity to paint a portrait of Regent Empress Queen Cougar . Don’t think you’ll have the skill? Think adult coloring book, where you fill in the blank space between the lines…or go as wildly outside of the lines as you would like 🫟 Net proceeds benefit the Monarch’s Charity Fund, benefiting the Imperial Council of San Francisco (a 501c3 non-profit in the State of California). by @icsf1965

This Halloween join us in commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the closing of the Black Cat Cafe and the legacy of Jose Sarria. Thanks to generous donations, we're offering free flowers to make bouquets. Then we'll cross the street to lay our flowers and hear some salacious and heroic tales about this storied bar. Consider it as your first stop for your gay Halloween night itinerary. Special thanks to the organizations that have made this year's event possible: @icsf1965 @sfnovaexpress @josesarriafoundation by @icsf1965
