POSTS STORIES REELS

This is my friend Mays Alnajjar from Gaza. In 2020, both of us moved to Belgrade, one for work, another for school. But it’s not until many months later that we met by chance when we were both sitting at the communal table at Kafeterija and she asked to borrow my laptop charger.

When I first met her, I knew what being Palestinian meant, but over the past 123 days, that meaning shifted as I heard about the home her dad spent his whole life building destroyed in a day, her dad having a stroke with no means of getting treated, and her family forced to seek refuge when nowhere is safe.

Fortunately, she was able to evacuate her family to Serbia (with the exception of her brother who is still trying to leave Gaza) but it’s difficult to restart their lives. With your help, she will be able to evacuate her brother, house her family in Belgrade, and put the kids in school.

I will let Mays tell her story in her own words. Please take some time to read, donate, and share! The link is in my bio (gofund.me/83fa9ead)

@bluesunpalacefilm bts! NYC + LA opening 4/25! 台灣4/30 上映! Everyone go see it 🙏

Being able to act was such a dream come true. But more than that, this came when I needed it the most. When my grandma passed away just two weeks before filming began, I flew to Taiwan to attend her funeral and would have had to quit. Then by some miracle, her service was rescheduled to the day before our first day on set. I felt like she was telling me to go for it. Even though I still carried a lot of guilt with me back to New York, playing Josie forced me to confront my emotions. My grief became her grief. But her warmth and their sisterhood became my solace.

Thank you @constance_tsang for taking a chance on me and giving me the space to be vulnerable.
Thank you @lisa1352 for being my big sister on set.
Thank you @ke_xi_wu_official for being a force of emotion that made immersing in this story so easy.

And thank you to this beautiful crew. I am forever in awe of all the logistics, design, costume, electrical, sound, cinematography, and more that brought everything to life. by @ihsiehyounot
