Long Caption Alert 😅

I’ve been basking in this moment for the last two weeks, but it’s finally time to share the highlight of my May 🌸

I had the honor of being invited by @wisenetworkct (WISE: Women Inspiring, Supporting, Empowering Network) to speak at their annual Women’s Wellness Brunch. WISE is a Connecticut based nonprofit dedicated to building community for women of color across the state. What makes this invitation even more special is that I had no prior connection to Connecticut..they found me right here on IG chile 😂 (keep taking up space, you never know who’s watching)

IYKYK, advocacy is at the core of who I am, and always has been! I’ve always been outspoken about issues directly impacting my community, especially when it comes to politics, equity, and justice 🫡 I believe in using my voice for those who too often go unheard, so this opportunity was really special to me!

I used this opportunity to shed light on what has quietly been happening to Black women in the workforce, particularly within the federal government. As a Black woman whose career was impacted by the Trump Admin/DOGE and the dismantling of federal agencies like USAID, this conversation was DEEPLY personal.

It felt important to share my story as a reminder that none of us are alone in our struggles. Black women have always faced obstacles with courage, resilience, and determination! We get knocked down, we get back up, and we keep moving bc we are really built like that!

YOU CAN’T STOP BLACK WOMEN 💁🏾‍♀️

But I genuinely need everyone to LOCK IN bc there is a very real attack on Black excellence, on diversity, on our communities, and on the values that make this country stronger. It will take all of us investing in one another, building community, and standing together to get through what’s going on rn.

I left this brunch inspired by the power that exists when women come together, share their stories, and create space for one another to thrive ✨

Through it all, I’m committed to protecting my joy, Trump nor Elon Musk can take it away from me. Joy is not the absence of adversity..it’s the decision to keep shining, keep believing, and keep showing up despite it 💅🏾 by @imanimurdock

Surviving and thriving are two different things 🧘🏾‍♀️🌿

Being a young woman in this world is not easy. Advocating for others while trying to stay whole yourself? That’s a different kind of battle. Wellness saved me. Community saved me. And I truly want that for every woman in the room.

The world is not slowing down for us, so we have to be extremely intentional about staying grounded 💜

I am so honored to take the stage as a Special Guest Speaker at the 5th Annual WISE Women’s Wellness Brunch with @WISENetworkCT. This years theme is Rooted & Radiant: Grounded in Purpose ✨

You deserve to show up for yourself just as fiercely as you show up for everyone else. Come do that with us!

Thank you cupid 💘 by @imanimurdock

It is truly an honor to be featured in Jamaica’s oldest and most trusted newspaper, @jamaicagleaner 🇯🇲🖤 I am beyond grateful to be trusted as a community partner and to have the diaspora’s work highlighted in this way. I had no idea when the article would be published, so seeing this as I celebrated my 26th year of life felt incredibly special and reaffirming ✨

I also wanted to share a transparent update on the relief drive. I packed and shipped two barrels BEFORE Thanksgiving with the intention of personally distributing the aid during my December trip to Jamaica. Unfortunately, due to ongoing and unexpected delays at customs and the Jamaica Wharf, the barrels did not clear in time. It’s been extremely frustrating, but I know this is part of the reality of getting aid where it’s needed and it sheds light on how this process can be improved.

As of January 13th, the container has officially been stripped/opened but we are still waiting on final clearance. Since I won’t be able to distribute the aid myself, I am incredibly thankful to be working with the Jamaica Mission Impact Team (JMIT), a trusted local nonprofit that my aunt @nefertiti_jm sits on the board of. They have graciously agreed to distribute the supplies on my behalf in Westmoreland, JA, one of the parishes most heavily impacted by the hurricane.

To everyone who donated, whether through monetary contributions or the Amazon link, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart! This work wouldn’t be possible w/o COMMUNITY! Yall know Jamaica holds a very special place in my heart, and this work means more to me than I can put into words. I truly appreciate your trust, patience, and generosity, and I’ll continue to keep you all updated.

THANK YOU FAMILY 🇯🇲 still on a mission to make the world a little greater 🫡 by @imanimurdock

🇯🇲🚨JAMAICA NEEDS US RIGHT NOW 🚨🇯🇲

Hurricane Melissa has torn through communities across the island, leaving so many families without homes or basic essentials. My heart breaks for everyone affected, and I know we can come together to help. 💚💛🖤

I’m collecting hygiene and emergency supplies like sanitary napkins, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, hand sanitizer, and bug spray for those most impacted. Every single item will go directly to people in Jamaica.

📦 Here’s how you can help:
🛒 Purchase supplies from the Amazon Relief List (link in bio)
💸 Send donations to help with shipping and logistics
Zelle/PayPal: imanicjmurdock@gmail.com

Even the smallest act of giving can make a huge difference for someone starting over after the storm. Thank you for showing up for Jamaica. 🇯🇲💚
