Rising from the mud. Ancient philosophy. An imperfect seeker finding the way. You're not the only one. True story. AI visuals, to protect those in it

Day One. Whatever brought you here, you’re welcome. The drift is quiet, and noticing it is where everything begins.

Built by someone whose doctor couldn’t believe they were still breathing.

The story is true. The images and voice are made with AI, on purpose, to protect the people in it.

This is the beginning of a slow story, told a piece at a time through the week. Whatever brought you here, there’s more to come.

If someone came to mind, send this to them.

Follow along. This is where it starts.

Starting again after drinking, burnout, grief, or just drifting.

Last night was about the hour you used to drink. This is what to do with it.
None of these are big. That’s the point. You don’t need a new life, just a plan for one hour. Mine is usually the gym, a coffee or a few chapters of a Stoic book.
Which one are you trying tonight? Or add yours below.
Quitting drinking, evening cravings and what to do instead of drinking.
Save this for the hour you need it. Send it to someone who’s struggling with evenings.

Saying no to a drink takes a second.

The hard part is the hour you used to drink: after work, Friday night, Sunday afternoon.

Whatever it was for you, that’s the hour to plan for.

What was your hour?

Quitting drinking, cravings and what to do instead of drinking.

Send this to someone who finds that one hour the hardest.

Quitting drinking won’t fix your life. Nobody tells you that part.

The bills are still there. The past is still there. What changes is that you wake up clear enough to deal with them.

What’s the first thing you’d fix with a clear morning?

Quitting drinking, sober curious and what really changes when you stop.

Send this to someone who thinks they need to have it all sorted before they stop.

162 days ago I couldn’t imagine getting through a single evening.

Today is just a Sunday. A coffee, a trip into town, a few pages of a Stoic book. Nothing special, and that’s the whole point.

If you’re on day 1, day 10 or day 100, which day are you on?

Sober days, starting again, and what it actually feels like months in.

Send this to someone counting their days.

“Just busy” is the easiest lie to tell.

It ends the conversation before anyone gets close.

When did you last answer this honestly?

Struggling but saying you’re fine: loneliness, burnout and reaching out.

Send this to the mate you haven’t heard from in a while.

Five months without a drink, after 20 years of drinking well past excess.

No AA. A few counselling sessions, then discharged. So I’ve mostly been learning as I go.

I walked back into the pub almost straight away, just to prove to myself I could be around it. That worked for me. It won’t be right for everyone.

Nobody warned me about most of this. The first months aren’t one big battle. They’re lots of small, strange moments you don’t see coming.

Which one hit you hardest? Or which one are you in right now?

Quitting drinking: what the first months without alcohol are really like.

Send this to anyone who needs to read it.

“Tomorrow” is the most comfortable lie there is. It never asks anything of you today.

How many of these are you right now? 0, 1, 2 or 3?
Signs of burnout, numbness and autopilot: putting off asking for help.

Send this to someone who keeps saying they’ll sort it tomorrow.

The hardest part isn’t saying no.

It’s saying it out loud when everyone’s already got a pint in their hand.

Nobody notices. Nobody claps. You do it anyway, and tomorrow you wake up clear.

What’s your go-to order now?

Cutting back on alcohol, saying no to a drink, and sober curious nights out.

Send this to someone who’s been ordering the coke lately.

You won’t see where it lands.

Choose well anyway.

How small daily choices ripple through your life.

Share this to your story if one small choice changed things for you.

You’re not who you were. Good.

The version of you that said yes to everything, stayed out too late and kept saying “I’m fine”. You don’t have to miss them. You don’t have to hate them either. Just keep walking.

What’s one thing the old you did that the new you doesn’t?

Personal growth after drinking, burnout or just drifting: becoming someone new.

Send this to someone who’s changed more than they give themselves credit for.

Most of what keeps you up at night hasn’t happened yet.

What if it goes wrong. What if they’re angry. What if it all falls apart.

Your head runs every version, and none of them are in your hands tonight.

“Some things are in our control and others not.”
— Epictetus, Enchiridion (trans. Elizabeth Carter)

Read it again the next time the what-ifs start.

Stoic quotes: Epictetus on overthinking, worry and what’s in your control.

Send this to someone whose mind won’t stop running the worst case.
