Member MOC Showcase:
"Choose wisely", by @minormakesmocs
Isaac brings us a recreation of the iconic scene from ‘Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade’. Indiana has to use all knowledge acquired by him and his father in order to save his mortally wounded parent. As a knight of the first crusade tells the adventurer to “choose wisely”....
This scene has always been one of Isaac’s favourites from the Indiana Jones series and did a great job representing this scene with such a great level of detail!

Antoine brings an awesome Battle on the Outer Rim world of Dantooine. Notice the cool pieces used on the fence in the background. Same goes for the cool explosion effect.

Member MOC Showcase:
"Seeking for a family treasure", by @lego.pepijn
“In the middle of the day, under the bright sun rays, Reynard, the brave man, embarked on his quest. After weeks of travel, he finally reached the steep cliffs where his family's beloved sword lay, a treasured possession. Reynard lifted his helmet, determined to unravel the mystery. Armed with a fishing rod, he began his search for the hidden location of the sword above the clouds. The sun shines brightly, and a majestic tree stands behind him, the only thing that keeps him company in his search.”

@bricklegion501 and his @empirelug mentor @captainlego2 close out this awesome collaboration with: ‘Vader on Kashyyyk’

This is a scene from The PS2 game: ‘The Force Unleashed’. The 501st has started their attack on the Wookie resistance on Kashyyyk, together with Lord Vader and Triton Squad. There have been rumors of a force user in the area that needs to be dealt with….
At the end of the collaboration we asked the IBD member and their EmpireLUG mentor to reflect on their partnership:

What was the most important piece of feedback or thing you learned from your EmpireLUG mentor? @bricklegion501

“Mostly to take things easy and take time building, things can be rushed but with more time you can try a lot of different ideas, styles and new techniques. Commonly known as trial and error.”

Which aspect of your partner's build are you most impressed with and why? @capainlego2

“I’m most impressed by the overall clean look of the build. I think every aspect of the build from the terrain to the trees flows together very nicely and the overall MOC looks incredible!”

How do you look back on your collaboration?

@bricklegion501 - “For me it was a new experience to work on a collaboration. I didn't know what to expect at first but looking back on it I really liked it. I would also recommend trying it at least once for any moc builder. next to learning new techniques and trying new things it’s a great way to get to know more people that can have the same interests as you do!”
@captainlego2 - “I look back on it with positive thoughts and think I’ve provided a good amount of help in the building process.”

This closes out the Empirelug mentorship program! We hope you enjoyed the awesome builds our members have showcased over the past few weeks! Make sure to apply to the IBD today to gain access to an amazing place, where you can grow as a builder!

@estro_legend and his @empirelug mentor @carbon_builds dive into the histories with this recreation of:
‘The Battle of Chapultepec’
The build depicts the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847, in the woods at the base of the hill. Where American forces are advancing on Mexican forces.
At the end of the collaboration we asked the IBD member and their EmpireLUG mentor to reflect on their partnership:

What was the first MOC idea you had in mind? @estro_legend
“Initially I was inspired to create a historical MOC centered around the Mexican-American War, a topic that is not really covered. Given my strength in working with landscapes, I wanted to focus on capturing the natural environment, especially the trees, to create an authentic and immersive scene. I Started by sketching out some ideas and shared them with Finn for feedback. Additionally, I worked on some FigBarf to ensure the LEGO figures were as accurate as possible to the period.”

What were your initial thoughts on this concept and which feedback did you provide? @carbon_builds
“Our first stage was purely brainstorming. Esteban threw out a collection of paintings of different parts of the battle and from there we narrowed down which scene made sense to build first. He was inspired by a variety of paintings, some of which took place in the forest that he built, while others took place on more rocky terrain with an older castle atop that.”

What was the most important piece of feedback or thing you learned from your EmpireLUG mentor? @estro_legend
“The most valuable lesson I learned from my EmpireLUG mentor was the importance of trial and error in bringing a MOC vision to life. Starting with the core idea and gradually executing small portions allowed me to refine different sections of the build. Experimenting with various colors and techniques also helped me better capture the landscape and overall feel of the scene.”

@tom_studs_ and his @empirelug mentor (and now peer) @catalyst.bricks show some appreciation for the classics with the: ‘Power Miners Terrasaw 5000’
The Terrasaw 5000 is based on the Power Miners sets. Of course it has the recognizable green and orange colors. The overall design is industrial, mixing robotics with construction machinery. There’s a big circular saw connected to the front, which can split huge rocks in a second!
At the end of the collaboration we asked the IBD member and their EmpireLUG mentor to reflect on their partnership:

What was the first MOC idea you had in mind? @tom_studs_
“My first (and final) idea was to build a unique Powerminers vehicle. I had started building the feet with my friend @bricks_4_all earlier, but I never had the motivation to finish it. This program helped me finish what we started. My mentor, Ethan, has quite a bit of experience building Star Wars vehicles, so it seemed like a good idea to build the Terrasaw 5000 with his help.”

What were your initial thoughts on this concept and which feedback did you provide? @catalyst.bricks
“The initial concept and wip immediately had so much character; the big body on 2 stubby little legs resembles a Blurrg stance. The line color scheme pops so nicely.”

What was the most important piece of feedback or thing you learned from your EmpireLUG mentor? @tom_studs_
"Ethan inspired me to give the Terrasaw 5000 a lot of character, which, in my opinion, worked out really well. Additionally, he also helped improve the picture by suggesting that blurring the saw too much would 'hide' the circular Modulex technique, which, of course, is nice to show off."

Which aspect of your partner's build are you most impressed with and why? @catalyst.bricks
“Definitely the modelex pieces used to create the saw blade. Modulex is rare and not well-known, and when it’s integrated so perfectly, it’s fantastic.”

Through showing his skill @tom_studs_ was moved up to EmpireLUG during this collaboration! IBD is a great way for you to grow into an EmpireLUG member!

@dmk_mocs and his @empirelug mentor @robonut_03 bring tears to our eyes, depicting one of the saddest moments from The Clone Wars:
‘Five’s Death’
After Clone Trooper Tup’s inhibitor chip malfunctioned, his brother Fives was doing research on what happened. Once he found out about the plot to kill the Jedi, Fives was trying to let the other Clones and Jedi know about the plot, which unfortunately led to his death.
At the end of the collaboration we asked the IBD member and their EmpireLUG mentor to reflect on their partnership:

What was the first MOC idea you had in mind? @dmk_mocs
“The first idea that was wanted to do was a micro scale battle from Star Wars but then decided to do something featuring minifigures.”

What were your initial thoughts on this concept and which feedback did you provide? @robonut_03
“I loved the idea of branching out and trying something new, as that’s something I traditionally try and do when I enter into a challenge format. We talked over a few MOC ideas such as maybe a space battle above Scarif, but after a while it became clear that a pivot would be necessary if we wanted to play to his strengths.”

What was the most important piece of feedback or thing you learned from your EmpireLUG mentor? @dmk_mocs
“Using certain colors for detail and to add background details.”

How do you look back on your collaboration?
@dmk_mocs - "This collaboration gathered great support for future MOCs and I learned some great techniques as well."

@robonut_03 - "It was a lot of fun jumping on calls with DMK and brainstorming. I loved helping him come up with ways to incorporate more accurate details, and seeing his line of thinking when building exact replicas of scenes definitely inspired me."
