🗓️05 November—23 December
📍NGMA, Mumbai 2027

POSTS STORIES REELS

The Indian Ceramics Triennale team is delighted to present Colour! At Arthshila, (@arthshila_goa), Goa.

Over 50 artists who we have exhibited in the last two editions of the Indian Ceramics Triennale, come forward to support with their generous donations of artworks.

Do join us on 11 December 2026 for an exciting preview. The exhibition continues until 28 February, 2027 by @indianceramicstriennale

For ICT Edition 2024, Teja Gavankar experimented with a motion and electronic system, with technical help from her partner Vishhal Kadam. The proposal, and the discussion that followed with the curators, pushed her beyond her “regular practice of using the miniature terracotta brick and bringing a kinetic vision to a sculpture.”

The outcome, Neti-Neti (1&2), was seen at Common Ground at Arthshila in New Delhi and will now be on view at the open-air Sculpture Park at Art Mumbai 2026 (@artmumbaiofficial) by @indianceramicstriennale

The selection is in for At Play at NGMA for November 2027

“We’re not asking for artists to give completed works, but just ideas, projects, sketches, ongoing considerations “

For our curators, when you are judging potential rather than finished pieces, every choice is a tough one. After much debate and many hours of conversation on each application- hard choices had to be made. Here’s what the ICT curators had to say about the last Triennale Common Ground and the process! by @indianceramicstriennale

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Peter Nagy. His absence will be felt immensely by us! Peter was one of the first people to believe in our vision. He played a critical role in supporting us in the run up to Breaking Ground, the first Indian Ceramics Triennale. As a part of the final juror panel and with the installation and exhibition layout he gave generously of his wisdom and experience. His guidance was invaluable in the shaping of the triennale. We will greatly miss his sharp insights, irreverent approach and witty comments!! RIP dear Peter! We remain grateful. by @indianceramicstriennale

Clay, but not as you know it. Co-Curator Sangeeta Kapila on why the Indian Ceramics Triennale is exciting to view: it brings together research-based, audio, video, performative, interactive and digital works, all using clay.

Indian Ceramics Triennale inspires the start of India Paper Triennial!

‘Post-partum’ by Élodie Alexandre, presented at our 2018 edition at Jawahar Kala Kendra, explored the artist’s personal experience of childbirth and post-partum depression. Conceived as a mappa mundi, the wall-mounted ceramic installation mapped fragments of memory, emotion and reflection, tracing a path from vulnerability towards healing, strength and acceptance. Viewers scanned a two-dimensional version of the work with their smartphones or tablets to uncover intimate stories that extended the narrative and opened up dialogue on a subject still largely considered taboo.

Alexandre (@elolalalexandre) is a French-born ceramicist and illustrator based in Himachal Pradesh, India, trained at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Her work had been shown at the British Ceramics Biennial and the Biennial of Ceramics in Belgium, and at this time, she was bringing feminist concerns and narrative into her ceramic practice. by @indianceramicstriennale

Our 2024 edition artist Vinita Mungi (@vinitamungisculpture) talks about how being part of the Triennale shifted her career. From working alongside artists she has always admired, to moving into a new, bigger studio, to now opening her second show at Chemould CoLab (@chemouldcolab). by @indianceramicstriennale

“Today, our collective has grown to eight, and in just two iterations, more than 100 artists have already been part of this evolving platform. The potential for its growth and ripple effect is endless. For me, the curatorial process has been an enriching journey of conversations, experimentations and possibilities—truly pushing the boundaries.” - Madhvi Subrahmanian
