What rooms are you in? (Part 1)

Meet my friend Danielle 👋 She invited me into Gloria Steinem's living room to talk about something I didn't expect: masculinity.

The conversation was moving, uplifting, confronting, and incredibly honest. All the things that I believe matter more than ever — in our communities, around our kitchen tables, and with strangers and closest loved ones alike.

Now, how did I get in this room? Because "2014 Judith" decided to do something courageous and build a life 1% of courage every single day. That single act grew to become @inhershoesmvmt. The power of compound effect isn't just for economics or finance — it's for our lives. The compound effect of that single act of courage in 2014 has me walking into rooms in 2026 that I could have only dared to dream about.

Huge thank you to @daniellerobay and @gloriasteinem - true catalysts for courage - for seeing me, seeing all of us in that room, and creating the courageous spaces to be heard. The world is better because you are in it.

Courage got me to this room. What rooms are you courageously walking into this year?

We took a looonnnngg hiatus in 2023 and came back in 2024 with a splash, energized to focus on one thing and one thing only: our community. In 2023 we took time to reflect, learn, rest, and dream and we can’t wait to show you what we have been working on ✨️

Which is why we are excited to re-introduce our monthly IRL courage community series, Cup of Courage 🧡 Each month we partner with local small businesses and gather an intimate group of curated women to listen, share, be heard, and feel seen about a topic. The event is free, private, and designed and built with community in mind. This month’s February theme has been TRANSITIONS. Have you been in a space of transition?

InHerShoes along with our student Catalysts at @princeton closed out Women’s History Month last week with @stuartweitzman and celebrated “Women Who Tell Our Stories” 📣🧡

We came together to have courageous conversations on courage in the workplace, mentorship, pursuing your passion, and ways to make a positive impact from the classroom to the boardroom 💡💭 link in bio to learn more and get involved #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

Happy International Women’s Day Catalysts ⚡️ this year, Women’s History Month is all about Celebrating the Women Who Tell Our Stories ✍️ at InHerShoes we believe WE ALL HAVE A STORY TO TELL, and it takes courage to share your voice. Every month is women’s history month around here, but we’re excited to take a walk down memory lane all month long and highlight some inspiring stories of women who’ve shaped InHerShoes into who we are today 🧡 #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

Happy Wednesday! Today, as our Mentorship Series comes to a close, we wanted to do a quick recap of the series by discussing some great tips for your next mentor session; specifically when it comes to asking questions. 🧡

Asking questions is super insightful and is key to making sure you make the most of your mentorship. You can learn more about the career path you want, more about your mentor, or can get some advice on important topics like a carer decision. Plus, these questions can help your mentor decide how they can better assist you with feedback and information! ✨

Swipe to see some great examples of questions you can ask your mentor next! If you’re hungry for more, we have a great Forbes article you can access that gives more examples too! 😊⭐️ #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

Congratulations! You’ve got a mentor! 🎊 But now that they’ve said yes, what do you do? It's time to keep flexing that courage muscle! 🥳

Let’s discuss some key things to do before the first mentorship session begins. This is a great time to ask some opening questions and clarify/specify some specific goals you’d like to accomplish by the end of this mentorship. Swipe to see some things you can ponder as the date of your meeting approaches! ⬅️

This first session is likely going to be a “get to know me” session and a time for you both to exchange information or figure out the detailed logistics of the mentorship like how often you’ll meet. Don’t be nervous! This mentorship will be great! 😊#CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

Happy Wednesday! Need a quick pick me up? Grab your coffee/drink of choice and join us on our conversation on what coffee chats are and how they’re a great way to connect with a potential mentor! ☕️😊

Coffee chats are a great opportunity for you to get to know someone better in a more casual setting. Swipe to learn more about coffee chats: how to prepare for one, what to wear to one, and some example questions to ask! Happy connecting!! 🤝🧡 #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

On Monday, we talked about how you can reach out to a potential mentor in person via an elevator pitch, but what about when you want to reach out to someone in a different time zone? Someone you don’t already have a connection to? No need to fear, InHerShoes is here! 🦸🧡

Today, we’re giving you the run down on cold emails. What are they? When to send one? What to include in a cold email? We’ll also reference some tips at the end of our post, including to customize each email! ✨

Having a more personalized message will not only help the recipient better address your request, but also help increase your chances of getting a response! A cold email can lead to a coffee chat (stay tuned for more info on this) and can be all it takes to lead to a new connection that could ultimately turn into a mentorship! 😇 Don’t be discouraged if the person you are trying to contact is unable to take on the role of being a mentor at this time. Try to see if they would still be willing to hop on a call with you to give some advice! 😊 #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt

Hey, hey, hey! 👋 It's Mentorship Day! We hope you're ready to jump right in to our second chapter of our Mentorship Series. In this chapter, we'll talk about some ways YOU can reach out to a mentor!

To kick things off, we're talking all about elevator pitches. Did you meet someone who inspires you at a meeting? A coffee shop? A networking event? If so, then this is the perfect time to give an elevator pitch! Does it have to occur in an elevator? Not necessarily, but it should be about 30 seconds long (the approximate amount of time you spend with someone in an elevator). Keep it concise and you might just get some advice! 😊🧡

Elevator pitches are great ways to open up new opportunities for building connections. Swipe to learn more about what an elevator pitch is, how to build one, and how this can be used to lead to asking someone to be your mentor! (we even included an example!) Happy pitching everyone! ⭐️ #CatalyzeCourage by @inhershoesmvmt
