SISA-SISA, a double bill of solo works by Alfa O'sullivan and Murtala, comes to Komunitas Salihara Arts Centre, Indonesia this October. Grounded in Indonesian culture and set to an original score by Gondrong Gunarto. Both works circle the same question: what traces remain when we endure the unendurable? Murtala's Gelumbang Raya draws on his months as a volunteer in the aftermath of the 2004 Aceh tsunami, pulling bodies from the earth. Movement and story become a way of transforming that trauma, migration and resilience into a shared act of remembrance and belonging. Alfira's Jejak & Bisik breaks the silence around fertility, perimenopause and the changing female body, drawn from her own experience as woman, mother and ageing dancer. Through body percussion, song, spoken word and culturally rooted movement, private memory becomes collective ritual. 📍 Komunitas Salihara Arts Centre, Indonesia 📅 October 2026 📷 Victor Frankowski by @insitearts
Two acclaimed solo works from Fleur Elise Noble land at QUAD Theatre, Seoul, as part of Seoul International Arts Festival - ‘2-Dimensional Life of Her’ and ‘ROOMAN’, presented as a double bill. Each production took five years to build, and each has since travelled the world, touring extensively across Australia and beyond. Seen together, they trace Noble's distinctive approach to performance-making, moving between drawing, animation, puppetry, projection and paper. In ROOMAN, a giant 3D paper set becomes the stage for entire animated universes - somewhere between a low-tech hologram and a high-tech pop-up book. It's a visual-musical journey about following your dreams, wherever that leads, and it doesn't shy away from both the heart-warming and the heart-breaking. 2-Dimensional Life of Her is set inside an artist's studio, where the line between still and moving, flat and dimensional, starts to dissolve. Her drawings take on a life of their own, drifting across surfaces and slipping in and out of three dimensions, until the artist can no longer contain what she's created. 📍 QUAD Theatre, Seoul 📅 4–7 October 2026 📷 Bryony Jackson, Poncho Hawkes and Jamie Williams Generously supported by the South Australian Government through Create SA, and the Australian Federal Government through Creative Australia. by @insitearts
Carrion is heading to Yogyakarta, Indonesia! Justin Talplacido Shoulder's magnetic new solo work introduces Carrion - a post-human spectre, shapeshifting between forms and languages. As our destructive grip on the planet rewrites the laws of nature, the work asks what it even means to be human anymore. Presented by Papermoon Puppet Theatre as part of Pesta Boneka, Yogyakarta's international puppet biennale. This tour is supported by funding through Creative Australia, the Australian Government's principal Arts Advisory and Investment body. 📍 Papermoon Puppet Theatre, Yogyakarta, Indonesia 📅 9–13 October 2026 📷 Alex Davies by @insitearts
The double-bill of two stunning solo works by Alfa O'sullivan and Murtala, SISA-SISA, is being presented at Komunitas Salihara Arts Centre this October. Grounded in Indonesian culture, thrumming with an original score by Gondrong Gunarto, these works ask: what traces remain when we endure the unendurable? In Gelumbang Raya, Murtala retraces his time as a volunteer in the aftermath of the 2004 Aceh tsunami, where he spent months pulling bodies from the earth. Through movement and story, he transforms trauma, migration and resilience into a shared act of remembrance and belonging. In Jejak & Bisik, Alfira alchemises cultural silences around fertility, perimenopause and the shifting female body, exploring the realities as woman, mother, and ageing dancer. Weaving body percussion, soulful song, spoken word and culturally informed movement, she turns private memory into collective ritual. 📍 Komunitas Salihara Arts Centre 📅 October 2026 📷 Victor Frankowski by @insitearts
Seoul International Arts Festival brings a double bill of Fleur Elise Noble's visual-theatre masterpieces: '2-Dimensional Life of Her' and 'ROOMAN'. Fleur's two major solo works were each five years in the making, before touring extensively across Australia and around the globe. This special double bill highlights Noble's singular approach to performance-making, blending drawing, animation, puppetry, projection and paper into one seamless craft. In ROOMAN, Noble uses a variety of visual techniques to tell this story, predominantly through puppet work, illustration and projections onto a moving paper set. "The detail in all these is incredibly intricate and adds arresting layers to the two worlds being presented on stage, from the black and white corporate world our protagonist is stuck in, to the more coloured and fantastical world of her imagination. With the only glimmer of happiness she finds is in her dreams, where she meets and falls in love with a ROOMAN (a half-man-half-kangaroo), she becomes more entranced by her fantasy life and begins to gradually slip away from reality". - My Melbourne Arts. This presentation is generously supported by the South Australian Government through Create SA, and the Australian Federal Government through Creative Australia. 📍 QUAD Theatre, Seoul 📅 4-7 October 2026 📷️: Bryony Jackson and Ponch Hawkes by @insitearts

In April 2026, The Durga Chronicles, an internationally acclaimed immersive performing arts production from Australia, made its India premiere at G5A, Mumbai, in partnership with the Australian Consulate-General, Mumbai. Conceived by Dr. Priya Srinivasan, Director of Sangam (Melbourne), with music by composer and Carnatic vocalist Uthra Vijay (Director of Keerthana Music School, Melbourne), the production was brought to life in collaboration with a remarkable ensemble of Mumbai-based artists. Presented through a powerful blend of dance, music, storytelling and visual design, the production is a moving exploration of women’s empowerment, resilience and resistance to gender-based violence. The Mumbai premiere created a shared space for reflection and dialogue, reaffirming the power of the arts to engage with urgent social issues. The programme was received with immense warmth and appreciation, resonating deeply with audiences and inspiring honest conversations. The Australian High Commissioner to India delivered the opening remarks, underscoring the significance of the production and the cultural partnership between Australia and India.
