Probably the worlds slowest stitcher but I get there in the end. I love all hand embroidery and try any technique, some more successful than others 🧵

A big happy dance today, I’ve finished the top for my cabinet and even though I say so myself I think it looks fabulous. I do have one more piece to stitch to go on the right side but surely that one can’t possibly take as long 🫣

Sample 2. Isn’t it funny how a change of colours makes this look so different. Now to ponder the next colour scheme

I’m making some slow progress with the black scatter beads, there’s an awful lot of background to cover on this piece, I think I’ve done about a fifth of it

Last weekend I attended a class with @tatiana_popova_owl_crafts hosted by @prestonembandtexgroup another lovely class with a warm welcome for guests. I’ve waited some years for a class with Tatiana and it did not disappoint. The embroidery takes shape quickly, maybe I should do more of this instead of techniques that take me for ever to complete 🤭

My Venetian Door designed and taught by @jennyadinchristie is back from the framers and I think it looks just right on this wall. Swipe to see photos of my favourite parts (which is basically all of it)

I love the pleated gimp that drove me insane trying to fold and keep tension on it, and the delicate swirls above the door

The hand painted background which was nerve wracking to do, putting a paintbrush to the beautiful silk organza

Just in time for World Embroidery Day I’ve picked up my needle and my peacock feathers. It’s 5 months since I last worked on this, I gave up for a while when I had my finger op. I have to say I’ve done more unpicking than stitching today, does that still count as embroidery 🙄
I have managed to complete the twisted blue and gold frond so I’m taking that as progress

My last beaded flowers post for now, I really must make some progress on other projects using a needle and thread, but you know what it’s like when you fall down a rabbit hole 🙄
My flowers are nowhere near perfect, but I’m happy with them and what I’ve learned and what I need to practice and improve on (as well as what I need to buy like getting some wires that are closer in colour to the beads).

Doesn’t my lawn look lovely 🤣

Another bead obsession, making French beaded flowers, this is my progress after meeting Holly of @beadedblooms at the weekend. I found the hardest part was mixing up the purple beads 😂

On Saturday I found the ideal way to stay cool by driving 3 hours to @glassmuseumuk to see the new exhibition of endangered glassmaking crafts. My skills in photographing glass are non existent so apologies to the makers. Here’s a few of my favourite pieces.
I was fortunate enough to be able to spend time with Holly Parr of @beadedblooms who created the amazing beaded flowers in the first photo, and she spent time with me showing me how to make a lavender sprig. I will show my results in a separate post. Meanwhile I realise my bead stash is nowhere close to big enough 🤣
I can highly recommend a visit to the museum

I’ve finally finished my dragon started at a class organised by @prestonembandtexgroup and taught by @opusanglicanum
I have to say it’s nothing like Tanya’s original, the background of mountains and forest, the sky, and fire are all stitched with very fine silk from 21st Century Yarns. I changed my mind so many times about colours and patterns I’m really pleased that it’s now finished
