POSTS STORIES REELS

I heard about an elephant gravestone in Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet, NC, so of course I had to see it for myself.

Coming across the three dogs was a pleasant surprise, though it wasn’t clear to me if they belonged to anyone or how they ended up there. What was clear was one of them wanted to help me on my mission.

In addition to my elephant pursuit, I spent a bunch of time experimenting with double exposures, more infrared photos, and a combination of infrared and reflective images using dichroic glass. I’ve been editing those today and I can’t wait to show them soon. by @interseeing

Can you help me find animal lovers in North Carolina who might be interested in being part of my photography project? I’m easy to get in touch with here or via email at Will@Interseeing.com by @interseeing

I go to The Cotton Mill in Selma, NC as frequently as I can to pet cats and dogs, hunt for awesome antiques, and photograph all the animals.

I’ve fallen in love with this place since it was recommended to me at the beginning of the year. I’m looking forward to sharing more videos and photos of my visits soon.

These are all single exposures. Peep that last frame to see how it’s done.

For the first time I combined two things I’ve already been doing, using infrared light and reflections on dichroic glass to see a scene in a totally new way. I was especially excited to be able to position the cloud reflection directly over the statue.

The rest is editing, which is about what colors I want to swap (in this case it was red and blue), and then playing around with the white balance, which can change a lot in full spectrum images.

I’m remixing the cemetery. And loving every minute of it. by @interseeing

What do you make doubles exposures of?

Something I overlooked on the Fujifilm X100VI is that its multiple exposure feature has a live preview, which gives a lot of control as you’re grabbing that second frame. I just started experimenting with it and enjoyed putting different textures on gravestones, placing statues in archways, and adding doors where they don’t belong.

This falls right in line with interseeing, where I’m always excited about two things occupying the same space at once. For me, typically I have done this via reflections, though I know many people have thought they are double exposures.

I’ll be experimenting a bunch more with this soon! by @interseeing

“Take me to the purple place.”

Without question, @lomography ‘s Lomochrome Purple has become one of my favorite film stocks. I’ve put it in everything from my Nikon F3 to the most simple point and shoot and it’s magic every time.

Purple is my favorite color and I feel like this is my go to when I’m shooting in the cemetery. Though, when I went back and looked over the last couple of years of shooting film, I wasn’t “overusing” it as much as I initially thought.

Do I have a roll in a camera right now? Yes. Will the answer be the same no matter when you ask me that? Also yes. I need to be ready to go to the purple place at any time.

Do you also love Lomo Purple? If so, lemme see those shots!

Thank you to @jessmk3.5 for showing me what it takes to run @salemwildliferescue out of her apartment.

Her story of relating closely to animals and spending so much time focused on their care and well-being is one I’m coming across again and again. A reminder that everyone can make a difference when they choose to spend their time helping.

This is your reminder that Autumn is for bringing your film camera to cemeteries. by @interseeing

My favorite cemetery looks a lot like this. The Old Scotch Graveyard on CineStill 800. I need to get back out there ASAP. by @interseeing

A few frames from my recent trip to @peakcityvet for my “Hello, Friend” series, exploring the relationship between animals and people. The folks at @peaklabrescue were kind enough to chat with me and had plenty of puppies to photograph. by @interseeing

I learned so much from my visit to @peakcityvet

It was encouraging to see how Peak City Vet works closely with @peaklabrescue and other rescues to make a difference in the lives of animals.

And to see how well everyone collaborates and supports one another, because animal rescue and veterinary care can both be rollercoasters with significant heights and emotionally challenging lows.

Thank you to @serranovetmedia , Danielle, Dr. Addison, Dr. Cindy, @hcj_fosterpuppies , Nikki, and all the folks at Peak City Vet and Peak Lab for making this visit possible!
