I am proud of this one... YearWorks now supports all 10 AP Social Studies courses.

When I started building YearWorks, I was trying to solve a problem I kept running into in my own classroom: how do I make an honest plan for an AP course when the year I actually have never looks like the one I planned for in August?

Between teaching, coaching, testing, events, weather, and everything else that finds its way onto a school calendar, I needed a better way to see the road ahead.

Thank you to the teachers who have taken the time to try it, share feedback, and encourage me along the way. Your input has helped turn a personal tool into something that can hopefully help more teachers make their own years work.

YearWorks opens to all AP Social Studies teachers on October 10.

Two more courses. Two more ways to make your year work.

AP U.S. Government & Politics and AP Macroeconomics are now available in YearWorks, with support for both semester and full-year schedules.

Whether you teach one course all year or split Government and Macro across semesters, YearWorks builds around the calendar and course window you actually have and adjusts when that year changes.

Public launch: October 1.

Final Beta teachers, you spoke. We listened.

Over the past few weeks, your feedback has helped us make YearWorks better.

AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, and AP U.S. Government and Politics are now available. We’ve added support for traditional, alternating-day, and custom rotation schedules, made Ways Forward clearer when the year simply doesn’t have enough days, and given you more control when changing your plan.

And we’re continuing to improve how YearWorks recalculates the path ahead when your school year changes.

Two weeks remain in Final Beta. If you haven’t been back in a while, come take another look. Try the changes. Push on them. And please keep giving me the same honest feedback that got us here.

NEW COURSE! 🇪🇺

Friends- AP European History is officially live in YearWorks!

That brings us to FOUR AP courses, with AP U.S. Government & Politics and AP Macroeconomics coming next.

Your real school calendar. Your AP Exam. YearWorks builds the path between them and recalculates when the year changes.

Check out what I’ve been building!

Friends, I’ve been working on something I’m pretty excited to finally share.

It’s called YearWorks, and it grew out of a problem I run into constantly as a teacher: I know what we need to teach, but the school year rarely gives the neat, uninterrupted calendar the pacing guides assume.

YearWorks takes your real school calendar, your course, and the time you actually have and helps turn it into a workable plan- then adjusts when real life inevitably gets in the way.
I'm opening the site to my second testing group, Beta 2, this Sunday, starting with AP World History and AP US History, and I’d love for some of my teacher friends to check it out.

It’s completely free during Beta. If it looks useful, give it a try and tell me what you think!

I have to share the story of the first little native to our new butterfly garden!

A few weeks ago, I bought several milkweed plants and unknowingly brought home Carl the caterpillar. We watched him grow bigger and bigger as he ate his way through the milkweed. About a week ago he disappeared from the plant and we found him wandering around, looking for a safe place to transform. He eventually chose a nearby plant stand, where he formed his chrysalis. Today, I was lucky enough to walk outside at exactly the right moment to watch Carl take his very first flight as a beautiful butterfly.

Just incredible. One of those simple, magical moments you can’t plan. You just have to stop and cherish it. Godspeed, Carl! by @iront83
