POSTS STORIES REELS

All of my writing starts the same way.

Not as an article.
Not as a lesson.
Not as something meant to be shared.

It starts as a journal entry.

Usually written late at night when my mind won’t let something go. An emotion I’m trying to release. A situation I’m trying to make sense of. A problem I’m trying to solve. A pain I’m trying to validate.

For years I wrote like this. Sometimes for hours.

It was the only way I knew how to heal. I believed that if I could just put the pain somewhere outside of my body, if I could see it on paper, maybe I could understand it. And if I could understand it, maybe it would stop hurting so much.

Sometimes the writing was about someone who hurt me.
Sometimes it was about a conversation that ended without closure.
Sometimes it was about trying to understand why something that once felt so meaningful suddenly fell apart.

Part of me always hoped that if I could explain it clearly enough, the person on the other side might understand too.

But life doesn’t always give us that kind of resolution.

Sometimes the conversation never happens.
Sometimes the person never understands.
Sometimes the story just ends.

But something unexpected happened over time.

The pain that once lived only inside those journal pages started turning into insight. Patterns began to make sense. The emotions that once felt chaotic started forming words that other people could recognize in themselves.

And that’s when I realized something important.

All that pain wasn’t wasted.

Because if something I once wrote just to survive a moment can help someone else understand their own… then maybe healing was never meant to happen alone.

Maybe sometimes it spreads.

And maybe that’s why I’m finally sharing my writing. ✍️♥️ by @isabella.imani

We often talk about trusting ourselves as the courage to leave.
Leaving when something is toxic.
Leaving when we’re not respected.
Leaving when the relationship is clearly wrong.

But trusting yourself isn’t only about knowing when to walk away.
Sometimes the harder kind of trust is learning how to stay.

Stay when someone treats you well but your nervous system doesn’t know what to do with that kind of safety.
Stay when love feels unfamiliar because chaos used to feel like passion.
Stay when your old wounds whisper that distance is safer than intimacy.

Healing isn’t just about developing the strength to leave what harms you.
It’s also about developing the capacity to remain present in the love that nurtures you — even when every instinct shaped by your past tells you to run.

Because sometimes the greatest act of self-trust isn’t escape.
It’s allowing yourself to experience a kind of love you’ve never felt safe enough to stay in before.

So I’m curious…
Where in your life do you trust yourself to leave, but struggle to trust yourself to stay?
When something good enters your life, does your instinct move toward closeness… or toward distance?

And how would your relationships change if trusting yourself meant learning to tolerate safety, not just survive chaos? ♥️ by @isabella.imani

When we move, we are often moving on.

Not just from a house or a city, but from a version of ourselves that only existed there.

Rooms hold memory. Walls absorb arguments, laughter, silence. Kitchens remember who we were when we were hopeful. Bedrooms remember who we were when we were loved. Even the light through certain windows feels tied to a specific season of becoming.

So when we pack boxes, we’re not just organizing objects. We’re confronting identity. We’re deciding what comes with us and what stays behind.

Moving forces a reset.
What still fits?
What was survival?
What was love?
What was habit?

There’s something psychologically powerful about physical relocation. The brain encodes memory contextually. When the context changes, the emotional charge can soften. That’s why sometimes a new space feels like relief. It interrupts the loops. It disrupts the narrative that says, “This is who I am.”

A new address creates new evidence.

And in many ways, moving is an embodied declaration: I am allowed to outgrow spaces that held me.

It doesn’t mean we didn’t love what was there. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t real. It just means we’re not meant to stay in every room we once called home.

When we move, we are practicing detachment. We are rehearsing becoming.

Sometimes we move because we’re running.
Sometimes we move because we’re evolving.
Sometimes, it’s both… ♥️

But either way, motion changes us.

We don’t just leave spaces. We leave versions.

And if we’re intentional, we don’t abandon ourselves in the process. We carry forward the lessons, not the limitations ♥️ by @isabella.imani

Relationships that almost feel right are the most to difficult reconcile and hardest to leave. This can cause a lot of ambitious grief.

Ambiguous grief in the context of breakups, especially from loving but toxic relationships, can be incredibly challenging to navigate. Unlike abusive relationships, where the signs to leave might be more apparent, loving yet toxic relationships often exist in a gray area that's harder to define and even harder to let go of. It makes you question whether to try harder or walk away.

I remember a guy I once loved. In fact, we loved each other very deeply. But loving him meant self-abandonment and playing small. Choosing him meant not choosing myself. When you're in a loving relationship that is also toxic, the lines can blur. These relationships often make you question your own judgment because the person isn't malicious or intentionally hurtful. They may genuinely care for you, but their actions, needs, or lifestyle might be incompatible with your happiness and mental health.

From a trauma-informed perspective, navigating the ambiguous grief of a loving but toxic relationship can deeply impact you in several ways. The ambiguity in these relationships lies in the fact that there's often love and good moments mixed in with the toxicity. This combination creates a confusing emotional landscape. You might feel grief not just for the loss of the person but also for the future you two will no longer share. The toxicity might manifest in ways that are not overtly harmful but are insidiously damaging over time, such as through consistent emotional neglect, lack of support, or their inability to meet your needs despite their best efforts.

Letting go of such relationships requires a deep level of self-awareness and courage. It involves acknowledging that despite the love and good intentions, the relationship isn't serving your best interests. It's about recognizing the subtle yet persistent ways it drains your energy, diminishes your self-esteem, or prevents you from growing into the person you want to be ♥️ by @isabella.imani

As we close the door on 2024 and look ahead to 2025, I find myself sitting with so much gratitude—for the lessons learned, the growth I didn’t always notice in the moment, and the loving relationships that were there for me when I needed it the most.

This past year wasn’t perfect, but maybe it wasn’t supposed to be. Frankly, nothing worthwhile ever is ♥️ Every high and low, every step forward and stumble back, brought me closer to understanding myself and the life I want to create. And for that, I’m grateful.

2025 feels like an open invitation—a fresh page waiting to be written. But this time, I’m entering it with softness, with intention, and with love. No resolutions to “fix” myself, no pressure to rush toward perfection—just a quiet commitment to honor my needs, protect my peace, and embrace the person I’ve worked so hard to become.

To anyone reading this, I hope you give yourself permission to do the same. Let’s step into this next year together, not with urgency, but with tenderness. Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made, even if it doesn’t look exactly like we thought it would. And most of all, let’s remember that life isn’t about getting everything “right”—it’s about staying open to the beauty of what’s next ♥️

Here’s to 2025: a year of possibility, of growth, and of love—starting with the love we give ourselves. ♥️ by @isabella.imani

It’s a mindset rooted in self-preservation. For them, avoiding emotions feels safer than confronting the weight of their experiences. Talking about pain or trauma feels like reopening a wound, so the instinct is to bury it, move on, and keep functioning. But avoiding emotions doesn’t make them disappear—it just buries them deeper, where they quietly influence behavior, relationships, and self-perception.

From a trauma-informed perspective, this avoidance isn’t about a lack of care or feeling—it’s often a response to environments where expressing emotions wasn’t safe or welcomed. Maybe as a child, they were told to "toughen up" or "stop crying." Maybe their vulnerability was met with invalidation, rejection, or even punishment. Over time, they learned to equate emotional expression with danger, and now they believe the only way to survive is to suppress and move forward.

But healing doesn’t come from avoidance; it comes from acknowledgment. Suppressed emotions don’t stay silent forever—they show up in other ways: anxiety, disconnection, or even physical symptoms. The key is creating safe spaces where avoidants can begin to explore their feelings without fear of judgment or rejection. This means learning that vulnerability isn’t weakness, and emotions aren’t something to fear. It’s not about forcing them to "talk about it" but inviting them to see that naming and processing their emotions is how they free themselves from the weight they’ve been carrying. by @isabella.imani

Love changes us in ways we don’t always notice at first, but it’s undeniable when you look back. It’s like this quiet force that softens our edges and helps us see the world differently, even when we’re not trying. When you love someone—or something—it’s like your heart stretches, or even breaks wide open. You suddenly have this capacity to feel things so much deeper than you thought possible. And yeah, that can be terrifying, but it’s also where the magic is. Once you experience a love like this, there’s no going back. You can’t unfeel it. You can’t unsee it. Even a taste of it becomes your new standard. Without it, you will crave it your whole life.

The risk that comes with love, is loss. This is known as the Law of Change ♥️

One of the biggest ways love changes us is by teaching us how to be vulnerable. It’s uncomfortable, for sure, but it’s also where real connection happens. If you know me well, you know this is actually something I genuinely struggle with. Openness; I’m your girl. Vulnerability; Not so much ;) And the craziest part is, even when love doesn’t go the way we hope, that vulnerability makes us stronger. We learn to trust ourselves to heal, to keep opening up, and to not lose faith in the goodness of love itself.

And love doesn’t just stop at romantic relationships—it changes the way we see the world. When you love someone deeply, you start to see the humanity in everyone. You realize that people are carrying their own pain, their own joys, and suddenly, you’re softer. You’re more patient. Love kind of cracks you open in the best way, making room for more compassion, more kindness—not just for others, but for yourself, too.

But let’s be real—love also challenges us.

Even when love doesn’t last in the way we want it to, it still changes us. It leaves behind these little lessons—about who we are, what we need, and what we’re capable of. And that’s the thing: love never really disappears. It shifts, it evolves, but it stays with us in some form. Because the truth is, love doesn’t hurt. It’s the only thing that heals. ♥️ by @isabella.imani

One of the biggest regrets people have at the end of their lives is not showing up for their relationships. They don’t look back and wish they’d worked more or made more money. What haunts them is the love they didn’t express, the forgiveness they held onto for too long, or the connections they let slip away. At the end of the day, it’s the people we love that shape the quality of our lives. Everything else? It’s just background noise.

With 2025 right around the corner, here’s your reminder: don’t hold onto regret. If there’s something on your heart, say it. If there’s someone you miss, reach out. Stop putting off the things that actually matter because time doesn’t wait for any of us. One day, you don’t want to look back and realize that the only thing you held onto… was what you wish you’d done differently ♥️ by @isabella.imani

For me, choosing myself has been one of the hardest and most transformative decisions I’ve ever made. Whats the saying — “You only question the right decision when it’s the hard decision.”

I’ve had to let go of relationships with people I thought I couldn’t live without. I’ve had to walk away from situations where staying felt safer than leaving. Or even letting go of old dreams that no longer aligned with my future I was creating.

But every time I made the brave decision to choose myself, the Universe always rewarded me something better.

It’s hard though.. But suddenly you wake up one morning and you make the decision. Or at least, you stop resisting it.. Not because it feels easy.. But because it finally feels right.

When you choose yourself, the right things choose you.. The friendships that feel nurturing and supportive.. The love that feels gentle, safe and expansive.. The opportunities that align with your purpose.. These things don’t just show up by chance—they show up by change. Not because something outside of you changed — but because something inside of you finally has. In doing so, you’ve made room for them by letting go of what wasn’t right.

What’s right for you will never hold you back, tear you down, make you beg, discard you or take you for granted.

When you choose yourself, you teach yourself that you are enough, just as you are. Everything else around you is just a reflection of that. Letting go requires patience and faith because sometimes the space you create will feel empty right before it feels full. Letting go can feel like loss, and loss triggers fear.

But the truth is, what’s meant for you will never not be apart of you. If it’s truly meant for you, it will remain yours — even if the road away from it becomes the very path that leads you home to it again.

Ask yourself: How would your life change if you fully trusted that letting go of what’s not meant for you will always lead you closer to what is?

At first it’s painful… And then it becomes beautiful… ♥️ by @isabella.imani
