Three women, one line straight into the top of freestyle BMX. Jikke Schraffordt / @jikke_bmx (16, Netherlands), Anna Mondics / @mondics_anna (21, Hungary) and Shanice Silva Cruz / @shanice.silva.cruz (34, Netherlands) are all competing at the highest level of this sport. Between them, they ride World Cups, European and World Championships, and have collected multiple national and European titles. In June ‘26 I went out to photograph two BMX events. I was lucky to find three elite female BMX riders in front of my lens. Together, they show that a BMX career is not defined by age or gender. At the same time, female riders still face extra hurdles: parks designed around male riders, competitions without women’s or youth categories, less media exposure and lower prize money. Their achievements don’t come from a level playing field: they push through all of that on top of the sick tricks they are already performing. 🔥🙌🏻 Swipe all the way to see all three 👉

You like to see @jikke_bmx at some of the World Cups this year? Please help her to get there! Jikke does not get any financial support yet from NOC/ NSF so please support her in her crowdfunding campaign on the Yvonne van Gennip Talentenfonds website , so she will be able to join the best of the BMX freestyle women and show what’s she can do! https://yvgtf.nl/talentboek/jikke-schraffordt-naar-2-world-cups-bmx-freestyle-in-2026 Al the money will go directly to Jikke and will be used for getting to the World Cups. by @ischraffordt
