One of my Java scorpions enjoying a mealworm 🦂 I also think one of my females might be pregnant, which is very exciting! 😍 Not getting my hopes up too much just yet, but fingers crossed we might have some little scorplings on the way. Exciting times! Has anyone else had a pregnant Java scorpion before? Would love to hear your experiences! 🥰 #JavaScorpion #ScorpionKeeping #InvertKeeping #ScorpionLife #ArachnidLovers ExoticPets by @ishiraama

Cubaris sp. "Tapir" | Panda King Tapir Ever seen an isopod that looks like a tiny tapir? 👀 These adorable little creatures are a striking colour morph of the much-loved Panda King isopod, known for their beautiful, high-contrast white markings around their heads and front segments. Native to Southeast Asian tropical environments, these little roly-polies might be small, but they're full of character! Keeping Tapirs happy: They thrive in warm, humid environments (22–28°C), with plenty of leaf litter, hiding spots, calcium and a moisture gradient so they can choose their preferred conditions. 💚 Would you add these little tapirs to your isopod collection, or are they already on your wishlist? Getting absolutely mean mugged by my Armadillidium hauseni ‘Triceratops’ because apparently their IshiRaama bakes aren’t coming fast enough 😂🍩 Honestly, the attitude on these tiny guys. Want to treat your pods too? Or your millipedes, snails and other hungry little inverts? 👀 Pop over to my Etsy shop and grab them a bag of Harvest Donuts 🍩 https://ishiraamabakery.etsy.com link also in my bio A little supplementary treat to add some variety to their usual diet, without you having to stand there wondering what on earth to give them this week 😂 Handmade by me, tested by my own little army of inverts and apparently… demanded by them too. 🤎 #isopod #feeding #inverenrichment #organic by @ishiraama
The second picture really gives me "What are you doing? I'm walking here!" vibes. 😆 What would you caption it? The stocky shape of the 'crabby' isopods is extremely cute. Their wide, low shape is what gives them that crabby name, although I'm yet to see one walk sideways.🦀 #isopods #InvertKeeper #Entomology #rolypoly #pillbug by @ishiraama
I've introduced some scorpions to the collection!!! ❤️👄❤️ These are 🦂Chaerilus variegatus🦂, known as the matte black scorpion. They are native to the forests of Southeast Asia and are absolutely tiny, growing up to 4.5 cm MAX. I picked up 5 of these; no, they are not communal, but they were unsexed, so I wanted the chance to have males and females and see the differences in them. Scorpions don't just rely on their eyes to hunt. Tiny sensory hairs, like you can see in the pictures, and slit-like organs on their legs allow them to detect the slightest vibrations in the ground, helping them locate prey even in complete darkness. Could you eat your food in the dark? #MattBlackScorpion #Scorpion #Arachnid #InvertKeeper #ExoticPets by @ishiraama

Death by 1000 nibbles. 😆 One of my Armadillidium hauseni "Triceratops" isopods decided that the cuttlefish dust on my finger was far tastier than the fresh piece I popped into the enclosure. 🪲 Its nickname is from the distinctive horn-like bumps on the front of its body, which resemble the three horns of a Triceratops dinosaur. 🪲 I know I say this about all of them, but it's definitely one of my favourite species. . . . . . . . . #triceratops #isopod #invertsofinstagram #invert by @ishiraama
Derp Alert! 🧡 Do you keep Hognose snakes? Today, I welcomed Tugboat, an Albino Anaconda morph Western Hognose from @swellreptiles. He is already so full of character. I have enjoyed watching him get settled into his new home and can't wait for his real plants to arrive. Inspiration for picking them was taken from his geolocality in the wild, making his home a touch more natural and bioactive than his current plastic plant setup. It's just my preference. However, I have seen adorable mushroom and strawberry hides online that are definitely not found in the wild. 😆 This morph combines the reduced pattern of the Anaconda gene with the bright yellows and soft oranges of the Albino gene, making Tugboat look like a citrus blast. #WesternHognose #HognoseSnake #AlbinoAnaconda #SnakeKeeper by @ishiraama
Can you guess what game character Dizzy is named after? Curly hair tarantulas (Tliltocatl albopilosus) have a reputation for being calm & fluffy-looking, but every individual has its own personality. Mine, Dizzy, is usually more interested in wandering around her enclosure than hiding away. Those curly hairs aren't just for show either, they're thought to help protect the spider by making it harder for predators to get a good grip, while the urticating hairs on the abdomen are their real line of defence. by @ishiraama
I've only gone and caught that Brachypelma fever! Watch out... I hear it's contagious. So far I only have a Brachypelma boehmei... but she's set the bar pretty high. Bold, always out on display, and those fiery orange legs 😍. She's currently called Buddy because she happily sits with us on the couch while we watch TV. She's surprisingly quick when she wants to be. The worst part? I don't think there's a cure. This little beauty was purchased from @axolotlreptilerescue back in December, and she's doing amazingly. Brachypelma boehmei fact: Despite their calm reputation, they're surprisingly fast over short distances. Like many New World tarantulas, their first line of defence is usually to kick irritating urticating hairs rather than bite, making them fascinating spiders to observe while still deserving plenty of respect. I'd absolutely love to add a Brachypelma emilia to my collection next. I think the black triangle on the carapace and those warm orange markings make them one of the most striking species in the genus. Which species should I add after an emilia? Has anyone else fallen victim to the Brachypelma bug? by @ishiraama
