I draw everywhere I go 🌊 (📍NYC/ Delhi)
POSTS STORIES REELS
Last year, the Palmer Public Library in Massachusetts asked me if I would be interested in making a video for their gentle and curious series, How Do You Make Your Art? I reached out to @okaysaumya, and along with @bitcreate they made this beauuuuutiful film!!!! I’ve never shot something like this but Saumya made the whole process so relaxed and fun. We spent a gorgeous fall day in the botanic gardens and in my studio and just had a lot of fun ❤️ You two are incredible! Thank you so much for all this encouragement and your infinite patience @davidhydecostello :) The full video can be found on the Palmer Public Library’s YouTube Channel. https://youtu.be/be1JghLIQes?feature=shared #illustration #artistvideo #outsideinside by @ishitajain24
Searching for Sunshine is here! Last May I sent my publisher a giant zipped folder of over 400 files and then suddenly it was quiet for a While. To see that folder turn into something that I can touch, feel, smell, snuggle on my couch with, put a bookmark in, carry in the subway, flip the damn pages...it is all a THRILLLLL!! When I moved to NYC, the land of skyscrapers from Delhi in 2018, I was perpetually homesick and found solace in the parks and green spaces that provided a break from the chaos of the city. I was curious about people’s relationships with plants and the greenspaces that surround them. In ‘Searching for Sunshine’, I interviewed and drew some incredible humans in NYC who work with plants—botanists, foragers, herbalists, entomologists, tree pruners, florists—and asked them about their experiences of working with the natural world and why it brings meaning to their lives. Searching for Sunshine began as my thesis project @svamfaillustration with the bestest, life changing @wendymac as my mentor and is now being published by @papress Pre-order Searching for Sunshine (link in bio) and enter for the chance to win a print from the book + get a signed pre-order exclusively from Rizzoli Books (@rizzolibookstore) Pre-orders are mega helpful for fresh authors like me and it's one of the best ways to support my work :) #searchingforsunshine #svamfaillustration #adultnonfiction #illustration #illustratednonfiction #drawnjournalism #nyc #graphicjournalism #books #trees #plants #greenspaces #environment #svanyc by @ishitajain24

Fall inks and fall colors. Tiny sketches Ive been hoarding for a bit. Ginkgoes, anthuriums, philodendrons, water lilies, bare branches and bathing birds. Mostly from @brooklynbotanic I’d love to dress up as a black anthurium for halloween but my costume diy skills are nil. #inkillustration #fallillustration #sketchbook #linework by @ishitajain24

Down with the flu on this windy day…and a good reason to revisit these fluttering whipping watercolors of the Granite Rose coast from a trip earlier this year. When sunlight hits these massive rounded boulders, they glow a magnificent rose. As hard and solid as can be, but people are nestled in their rounded crevices- reading, hugging, sun soaking and watching the day end. #watercolorillustration #locationdrawing #sketchbook #bretagne #granitrose by @ishitajain24
