Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ by @itisgordyy

1. Every day starts with a choice that feels too big. The dress is honest, the shirt is safe. I wish it were about style alone, but it’s not. It’s about how my body will be read, questioned, or ignored. Pretending this is simple is exhausting—it never is.

2. I choose the dress to feel close to myself, not out of courage. For a .moment, I am aligned, whole without explanation. Relief comes in this small truth. I hold it carefully, knowing it can vanish as quickly as it arrived.

3. Doing my make-up grounds me. My hands move with certainty, even when my thoughts don’t. I connect with this version of myself, present in my body. Outside doesn’t matter yet. For now, it’s enough to feel at home in my own skin.

4. Comfort cracks unexpectedly. Nothing changed, yet I feel exposed. Doubt creeps in: am I honest or forcing a decision? The pressure to be less visible presses down. I slip into uncertainty, as I often do, without warning.

5. Holding the shirt, I imagine quiet—less explaining, less fear. But is this what I truly want, or just survival? Desire and protection blur. I can’t tell if I’m adjusting for myself or the world. I hate that I can’t separate comfort from adaptation, or desire from survival.

6.Taking the make-up off feels like giving something up, but I don’t know what. I feel heavy, sad, unsure. My thoughts are loud and messy, circling the same questions without answers. Am I adjusting because I want to, or because I’m exhausted? I sit with the uncertainty, knowing this feeling too well. It’s not new. It’s part of my everyday life.

7. I step outside in the shirt, unsure. It’s safer, smaller. Does this choice reflect me, or what I need to survive today? Maybe both. I carry doubt and hope, walking into the world, wishing tomorrow’s decision feels lighter.

Right now I can mostly tell if I’m being honest to myself or just trying to fit it. Trying to be less visible is this judgmental world. But here and there, is always a small voice who’s uncertain about all of it.
