POSTS STORIES REELS

The last two days have seen many new faces!!!
I also changed my username from “petites_joices_de_vie” to its.esther.nuss,to make it better readable. So I thought a little re-introduction was due! 😊

I’m Esther…born, raised & live in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

When I’m not working on my family’s farm, you’ll probably find me barefoot outside in the garden or doing yard work, baking most likely with sourdough and fresh milled grains, tending to our bees, homemaking…. while also running my shampoo business and creative outlet somewhere in the mix of it all.

I love sharing glimpses of this life I’ve been blessed with, sourdough made simple, fresh milled grains, nourishing foods, hair health, encouragement and sharing the beauty and little joys of full ordinary days.

RANDOM FACTS about me : )

• I have 9 siblings🥰

• also got Swiss citizenship 🇨🇭( thanks to my parents : )

• some of my hobbies are embroidery, gardening, crocheting, sewing, diys, knitting

• I love coffee, herbal and chai tea, brisk walks, camping, sunrise & sunsets, flowers, hiking, fishing, adventures…..

•this spring my oldest sister and I flew across the ocean ( my 1st time : ) to visit family & friends and explore parts of Netherland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Monaco, Italy, and Belgium for 5 weeks mostly by train. A dream come true!!

•I’m a Christian. I pray each of you would experience the life, freedom, joy and love that is found in Jesus alone🫶🏻

•from scratch & nourishing foods are my absolute favourites and I genuinely feel better eating those foods. But that doesn’t mean I never eat other foods …. they have there place for “survival” on busy days or as a treat… iykyk🤭

• I’m all for less or non-toxic but without losing your sanity and it must work✨

Anyways that’s enough for now 🤭

Whether you’ve been here from the very start or you’ve just started following along, I’m so thankful to have you here!!!🫶🏻✨

I’d really love to hear more about you + where you’re from! And maybe we have something in common 💛 by @its.esther.nuss

If you’re wondering why I destroyed my first sourdough starter… 😅
I was overcomplicating everything and babied it way too much.

That’s why I made this super simple, step-by-step guide so you can start your own sourdough starter from scratch with no fuss .

Questions? Drop them in the comments👇🏻

Tag me @petites_joies_de_vie, when you make your own sourdough starter… I would love to cheer you on 💛

My hair used to be super brittle, dry, frizzy my scalp oily and getting thinner .

What changed was consistent premium hair care that focused on scalp health, not quick fixes.

How I made my first quilt block🤭
Was going for a 14x14 block but somehow the measurement from the board and ruler didn’t add up 🤪 Ended up was a 12x12 block instead.

#quilt #quiltpattern #quilting #grandmahobbies

Took a bit getting used to the new to me sewing machine a friend gave me a while back 😅

“Measure twice and cut once”

Cut each block into 3 in squares.

There was many different designs to choose from but decided on the Sawtooth☺️

Finally sewed my first block ever !!! 🙌🏻😂 by @its.esther.nuss

I made my first quilt block 🐝🪡🧵💛

I’ve been sewing since I was a kid beginning with watching mama mend things and helping her thread the needle 🤭Over the years I’ve sewed a variety of things like lots and lots of double sided aprons & baby bibs, some neck warmers, key fobs, custom items, and even a few rag quilts in my teens and early twenties but the last couple years I didn’t really sew that much or at all.

Anyways, for a long time I’ve dreamt of learning how to make a real quilt and had that on my vision board/ goal for this year… yesterday I finally got out my sewing machine and made my first every quilt block following a tutorial here online. It was so much fun and I’m excited to make my first quilt hopefully before the end of this year yet 🤭

Tell us, what’s something fun you quilted ?

Here’s how to make my version, of the
VIRAL DATE S’MORES BARS 😋

Start by preparing your marshmallow fluff (you can buy it, but I highly recommend making your own, you’ll never buy store bought marshmallows again!😉)

* 1 cup water plus 2 tablespoons (I use a 15ml tablespoon)
* 3 tablespoons gelatin
* 1/2 - 2/3 cup coconut sugar (or sugar of your choice and adjust to your liking)
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

1. Add the water to a medium saucepan and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Let it sit for about a minute to absorb the liquid.
2. Add the coconut sugar, salt, and vanilla (if using). Whisk over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, until the gelatin has completely dissolved and the syrup has slightly reduced.
3. Pour the mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer and allow it to cool to about room temperature. { Don’t skip this step—if the mixture is too warm when whipped, the marshmallows may separate or lose their fluffiness.}
4.Using the whisk attachment, start beating on medium-low speed, gradually increasing to high. Beat for 5–7 minutes, or until the mixture is thick, glossy, and holds its shape. Be careful not to over-beat it as you want it to be pourable.

ON A PARCHMENT PAPER LINED BAKING SHEET OR PYREX— LAYER
- DATES (smash together using the bottom of a cup or a rolling pin) if the dates are on the dry side you can put them in a blender and blend for a bit to make them easier to spread out.
- MARSHMALLOW FLUFF, when it’s ready (move quickly) Pour as much as you want on the dates and then pour the rest pan dusted with arrowroot powder.}
- Top with Graham crackers, @simplemills sweet thins or whatever you choice ( I used some gluten free animal crackers)

CHOCOLATE LAYER
Melt together 1/2 cup chocolate + 1 tsp coconut oil (I like using 50% or 70% dark chocolate)
Cool slightly before spreading or drizzling over the marshmallow to prevent the marshmallow from melting too much.
- Sprinkle with crushed sweet crackers + flakey salt( optional)
- Refrigerate or freeze until the chocolate is set .
ENJOY 😉
