Like I Never Left by @its.maaani
Not only did I receive my degree, but I also surprised my family (and myself!) by giving a short address to my graduating class, something I never imagined having the courage to do. But it wasn’t just me speaking that day… it was “little Imani.” And she’s so proud of how far we’ve come, just like your younger self would be proud of you too. 💖 The scripture that carried me through grad school:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 Remember if God led you IN it, He’s going to lead you THROUGH it and bring you OUT of it!! ✝️ by @its.maaani
One year ago today, I walked across the stage and received my Master’s in Biomedical Sciences. This journey started fast and unexpectedly. I quickly packed up, moved to Miami, and stepped into a brand-new chapter. (While most never even knew I left) I moved into my apartment on a Friday night and started classes that following Monday. It was a whirlwind, and far from easy. I faced challenges I never anticipated, but with every struggle came a victory. I built friendships that will last a lifetime. I served as Class Ambassador all three semesters, became the Newspaper Editor, coordinated social media and events, and won first place in our Halloween contest for my panda costume 🐼😭. I also discovered a deep passion for research. I spent countless hours in the lab with one of the most amazing mentors I’ve ever had (he wasn’t even my professor), but a PharmD doing government-funded cancer research. He believed in me so much he made me first author on our publications and used to joke about having to fight off other professors who wanted to “steal” me from his lab 😌. Outside the lab, I worked with a family medicine doctor, which added to my drive that we need advocacy in underserved communities. That experience reshaped my understanding of the kind of impact I want to make in medicine. This year in Miami was one of growth, faith, and transformation. It was hard especially losing my aunt just two weeks before finals. That pain could’ve broken me, but God, my family, my friends, and my classmates carried me through to the finish line. To those who visited, supported, sent encouraging messages, or just prayed for me, thank you. And most of all, I thank God. I truly couldn’t have made it through without Him. My little wall of scripture notes and faith quotes got me through so many long nights and early mornings. I used to be afraid to share my story because my path hasn’t been traditional, five years to finish at Hampton 💙⚓️, gap years, detours. But I’ve learned that delayed does NOT mean denied. I only want the path that God has for me. So stay tuned... the best is still yet to come. 🩷 by @its.maaani

Whew this weekend was sooo Holy Spirit filled. When I say He was in the room,HE WAS IN THE ROOM. I can’t even put into words how filled with the fire🔥I am. On June 18,2024 I was blessed to turn 25🎂and 10 days later on June 28,2024(something about #10 symbolizing completion of God’s Divine order is so perfect)I was blessed to rededicate my life to Christ with an outward expression of an inner work.I GOT BAPTIZED YALL🙏🏾🎉.Initially it was an internal battle whether I should be baptized again.I was baptized when I was around 10(swipe🤭)and I completely understood the concept then and my mom allowed it to be 100% my own decision. But after journaling I heard God tell me this is what I needed to get to the next level of my life.Dont get me wrong you can get dipped once and that’s all you’ll ever need. But for me that initial baptism pushed me through the trials of teenage years and carried me through young adulthood. But now that I’m 25 I needed to cleanse everything that came with those years and I needed a new covering to walk me through adulthood. And that’s exactly what I did!!The tears and crying was just me mourning old Imani cus SHE WAS LEFT IN THE WATER!! I couldn’t imagine a better vessel of God to Baptize me and a better place for it to happen.Raze Hell Summit (Raze-to tear down;destroy)has changed my life and has given me testimony after testimony.(If you want to hear lmk b/c I can talk about it ALL DAY, this year 3 y’all!!)There’s no way you can be in a room sooo filled with the Holy Spirit, led by a visionary who makes sure everyone has the opportunity to receive God(in whatever way that looks)and STILL walk out of there empty handed. It’s truly not possible.Thank you Ciara, the work you do in the natural AND the spiritual does not go unnoticed. You’re truly a disciple of God and He exudes out of you onto anyone you come into contact with. You really make Hell mad and thank you for listening to God and creating Raze Hell because we needed it🔥❤️. ☑️Water Baptism:The submersion under water reflects the death/burial of your old self. The re-immersion from the water symbolizes your new life in Christ. ☑️Holy Spirit Baptism:indwelling of His spirit Boffum🤭 by @its.maaani
