🕊️💔On Friday of last week, May 26th, my entire life changed. At just the age of 28, I lost a parent……., my KennyG, my DADDY! It feels like I’ve just been hit by a truck and the crushing pain just won’t stop. I lay in my bed night after night and cry myself to sleep just thinking how I don’t have you by my side anymore; I need you here. When asked “How are you?”, I reply “I’m okay” when in reality I’m dying inside. Everything we have shared together as Father & Daughter are now all precious memories that I will hold on to for life. My future children won’t get to experience an amazing PawPaw; there will be no Father/Daughter dance at my wedding (something we have always talked about); and I won’t get to share my life journeys with you anymore. But who I am to be selfish. My Daddy was a FIGHTER! He fought the toughest battle I’ve ever seen any man fight; the horrible enemy called “CANCER”. You became tired, and Daddy I understand. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The gates of heaven have opened for you and I know my Heavenly Father will wrap his arms around me keeping me safe and warm with the memories of love I received from you. No child should have to bear this pain, but with my strong foundation of my loved ones, family, and friends, I know I will make it. If my strength has never been tested, it definitely has now. I have soooo much in store for my life and everything I do will be with you in mind. I promise to continue to make you proud.

Happy 1 year Labor and Delivery Anniversary to me
•
The month of June will always hold a special place in my heart. To know that I FINALLY was blessed with my dream job has filled my heart with so much joy. I have enjoyed every moment of being there for Moms on the biggest day of their lives. There to comfort, reassure, wipe tears, hold hands, pray, motivate, encourage, and so much more. We sit in that small second of silence together…..then we hear the most beautiful cry of a precious baby🥹. It has been an honor to be able to help bring new life into the world. For this, I am forever grateful. In one year I have delivered 64 Girls💕 54 Boys🩵 and 1 Angel Baby🤍. Oh yeah, and started a new position as Relief Charge Nurse! Allow me to reintroduce myself…
Kayla M. Smith BSN,RN…Labor & Delivery’s newest Interim Maternal Program Manager ☺️✨Never in a million years did I think I’d be sitting in a management position, but I am sooooo excited for this new journey. From working on the floor hands on with patients and helping Moms through the process of labor and bringing new life into the world, to now working on the other side understating the whys behind everything we as nurses do on the floor. Because of the help and guidance I received from my former manager, who I miss so much, I know that I will be able to carry my team through. I’m a little teary eyed knowing that not only am I making my Mom proud, but also my Daddy who watches over me from above. Cheers to new beginnings and new blessings. Nothing but God! 👩🏽‍⚕️🩺💕🩵 -Nurse Lullaby by @its__kkay
