Day 10 | Part 2 — Okinawa 🌊🐋 | The Final Chapter of Japan 🇯🇵❤️

And just like that… our 10-day Japan adventure came to an end.

For the second half of Day 10, we spent the day at Churaumi Aquarium, and what a magical way to close our journey. 🐋✨

Standing in front of the gigantic whale sharks, graceful manta rays and beautiful sea turtles, we felt unbelievably tiny. Watching them glide through that enormous blue world was completely spellbinding. 🌊💙

And then came the dolphin show. 🐬 Watching them leap, twirl and swim around brought back the child in us — we were smiling, cheering and enjoying every moment. Sometimes, travelling really does bring back that little sense of wonder we had as kids.

After the aquarium, we headed to American Village for a light evening snack, wandered around for a while, and finally called it a day — and with that, our Japan story came to a close. 🌆✨

But Japan was never just about the places.

It was about the beautiful people, their kindness, discipline, respect, traditions and culture — all the little things that made this country so incredibly special. 🇯🇵❤️

The funny part? Japan was never really on our bucket list. Yet somehow, it became one of those journeys we know we’ll cherish forever.

From Tokyo to Kyoto, Osaka to Okinawa — Japan surprised us at every turn.

Japan, you were never a planned dream.
But you became one of our most beautiful memories. ❤️

If you love travelling, exploring and discovering something truly different, put Japan on your bucket list. You won’t regret it.

Goodbye, Japan. 🇯🇵
Thank you for the memories. Until we meet again. ❤️

Day 10 in Japan- Okinawa 🌊🌴

Okinawa started showing off from every stop — impossibly blue waters at Kouri Bridge, dramatic cliffs at Cape Manzamo, and landscapes that looked straight out of a postcard. For a moment, it didn’t even feel like Japan… it felt like we had stepped into another world. 🌴🌊✨ ✨

The ocean here has a kind of blue that doesn’t look real, the coastline feels almost untouched, and every turn reveals another view that makes you stop and stare. Okinawa’s beauty is so different from the temples, cities and mountains we experienced elsewhere in Japan — wild, tropical, peaceful and unbelievably cinematic. 🌺

Looking back at our Japan itinerary, Okinawa was easily the best surprise and our favourite stop. It wasn’t just another destination; it was the place where we slowed down, breathed in the sea air and simply enjoyed being there.

If Japan is a story, Okinawa was definitely the chapter I never wanted to end. 💙

🌊 The Moment We Dared to Dive

And then came the moment that changed Day 9 of our Japan journey forever. 🐢💙

After exploring the breathtaking Tokashiki and Aharen Beaches, we finally did something we had been secretly terrified of — our very first snorkeling experience! 🤿

We were scared. Really scared as we dont know swimming and really regret not to have learnt that😅
But sometimes, the most unforgettable memories begin exactly where fear ends.

The moment we dived beneath the turquoise waters, an entirely different world opened up — vibrant, mysterious and absolutely magical. And then… we saw them. 🐢✨

Gigantic sea turtles swimming peacefully beneath us, completely unbothered by our presence. And the beautiful pink one — that sight is something I don’t think I’ll ever forget. 💗🐢

For those few moments, everything else disappeared. No fear. No noise. No thoughts. Just us, the endless blue, and wildlife living freely beneath the surface. 🌊

I was so proud of myself for taking that leap — and so incredibly happy that we did it.

This wasn’t just snorkeling. It was one of those rare moments when you realize how beautiful the world really is.

And honestly… 🥹
this became the most memorable moment of our entire Japan trip. 🇯🇵❤️

Sometimes, you just have to be brave enough to dive in. 🌊✨

Day 9 | Okinawa 🇯🇵🌊 — Into the Kerama Islands

Day 9 took us away from the usual Okinawa sights and straight into the dreamy Kerama Islands — a world of turquoise waters, powder-blue skies and beaches that honestly looked unreal. 💙

We hopped on a speedboat and headed towards Tokashiki Island, spending the first half of the day between Tokashiki Beach and Aharen Beach. The water was unbelievably clear, the sun was shining bright, and swimming in those shades of blue felt like stepping into a postcard. 🏝️✨

Aharen Beach is known for its calm, crystal-clear waters and soft white sand, while Tokashiki Island is all about those breathtaking tropical landscapes — especially when seen from above. The view of the island from the top was simply magical. 🌊💚

But the best part of the day was yet to come…

In the second half, we decided to do something we had never done before — snorkeling! 🐢🤿

We were honestly a little nervous, but the excitement of getting into the open sea and hoping to meet the famous sea turtles was much stronger.

And what happened next deserves a post of its own. 🐢💙

To be continued

🌺 Day 8 — We found a completely different Japan. 🇯🇵

While planning Japan, we knew we wanted to see the classics — Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka. But somewhere along the way, we realised we didn’t want to experience Japan the way everyone else does.

We wanted something different. Something unexpected. Something that felt like our own discovery.

And that’s how Okinawa happened. 🌴✨

The moment we landed, Japan suddenly felt tropical.

Turquoise waters. White sandy beaches. Palm trees. Slow island mornings. And a kind of beauty that instantly took us back to our first honeymoon in Mauritius. 💙

They call Okinawa the Hawaii of Japan — and honestly, we understood why. 🌊

We spent our first day taking it slow — wandering around Senagajima Umikaji Terrace, watching airplanes fly incredibly close overhead, exploring little cafés, watching a traditional wrestling show, and simply enjoying the island without a checklist.

After days of trains, crowds and endless sightseeing… this was exactly what we needed.

Just us, the ocean, and a completely different side of Japan. 🌺

Okinawa, you were an unexpected chapter — and one of our favourites. ❤️

Stay tuned for Okinawa itinerary!!

Amanohashidate—rightly called the “Gateway to Heaven.” 🌿✨

The second half of our Day 7 led us to one of Japan’s most underrated treasures. Stretching gracefully across Miyazu Bay, this iconic pine-covered sandbar looked even more magical from Kasamatsu Park, where the famous matanozoki (looking at it upside down) transforms it into a bridge floating towards the sky. Walking along the sandbar, soaking in the peaceful coastline, and simply taking in the silence made this one of the most unforgettable days of our journey.

Some places don’t need crowds to be extraordinary—and Amanohashidate is one of them.

And perhaps that’s what travel is really about. Long after the trip is over, when life gets a little overwhelming, these little moments tucked away in our gallery have a way of bringing back peace, a smile, and the reminder that beautiful days always exist somewhere in our memories. 🤍

Day 7 | Discovering one of Kyoto’s best-kept secrets – Ine no Funaya 🌊🇯🇵

While most travelers flock to Kyoto’s temples and bustling streets, we decided to venture off the beaten path—and what we found was nothing short of magical.

Nestled along the northern coast of Kyoto Prefecture, Ine no Funaya is a postcard-perfect fishing village where time seems to stand still. With its iconic wooden boathouses lining the tranquil bay, emerald waters reflecting the sky, and a peaceful charm untouched by crowds, it felt like discovering a side of Japan that few get to experience.

The highlight of our morning was undoubtedly the famous sightseeing boat cruise. As the boat glided across the calm waters, flocks of white pigeons and majestic black kites (often mistaken for eagles) soared effortlessly above us, diving and circling just inches away to catch food in mid-air. It was surreal—an experience that made us feel completely immersed in nature. Watching these magnificent birds dance against the backdrop of the serene bay is a memory we’ll cherish forever.

✨ And this was just the first half of our Day 7. The adventure was far from over as we headed to yet another hidden gem near Kyoto, making it one of our favorite days in Japan.

If you’re planning a trip to Japan, do yourself a favor—step beyond Kyoto’s city limits and experience the magic of Ine. You won’t regret it. ❤️

Japan Diaries 🇯🇵 | Day 6 (Part 2) ✨

Picking up right where we left off…

After soaking in the serenity of Fushimi Inari Shrine, we headed to Nara, where Japan surprised us once again. 🦌 Watching the friendly deer casually stroll through the streets and parks felt like stepping into a fairytale. Every corner had its own little magical moment.

Our next stop was Tōdai-ji Temple, home to the magnificent Great Buddha. Standing before this colossal masterpiece left us speechless—its sheer scale and peaceful aura are something photos can never truly capture. 🙏

As the day unfolded, we made our way to the iconic Osaka Castle. The highlight? Taking a boat ride around the castle just as the sun began to set. Watching the golden light reflect on the water while the castle stood proudly against the evening sky was pure magic. 🌅🏯

And then came the perfect contrast—the electric energy of Dotonbori. Neon lights shimmering over the canals, endless food stalls, bustling streets, and the city’s infectious vibe… Osaka truly comes alive after sunset. ✨🌃

To end the day on the sweetest note, we finally tried Japan’s legendary jiggly cheesecake. One bite, and we understood why the world can’t stop talking about it. 🍰🤍

From ancient temples and sacred deer to glowing castles and vibrant city lights—Day 6 reminded us that Japan has a beautiful way of blending tradition with modern life.

Day 6 • Kyoto, Japan 🇯🇵⛩️

Our day began with an early morning visit to Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. Walking through the seemingly endless tunnels of vibrant red torii gates was every bit as magical as we’d imagined. Each gate, donated over the years, tells its own story, creating a pathway that feels both spiritual and timeless.

Away from the city’s bustle, the peaceful surroundings and the gentle climb through the forest made this more than just a sightseeing stop—it was an experience that truly captured the soul of Kyoto.

Sometimes, the places you see a thousand times in photos still manage to leave you speechless when you’re finally there.

And that was only the beginning of the day… Next stop: a completely different side of Japan, with an experience we’d been looking forward to for a long time. ✨

Stay tuned for Part 2!

✨ Day 5 in Japan: A day that felt straight out of a dream 🇯🇵🍃

We started by walking through the magical Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Then came the peaceful beauty of Tenryu-ji Temple — where history, silence, and nature blended perfectly.

From there we reached the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, and wow… the views around it were absolutely breathtaking. Mountains, river, fresh air, and that calm Japanese charm — moments you wish you could pause forever.

The journey got even more special as we explored Otagi Nenbutsu-ji and wandered through the beautiful old streets nearby, soaking in every little corner and every hidden detail.

And then came the highlight that completely stole our hearts — Kibune & Kurama ❤️ Far away from the city rush, this offbeat escape felt unreal. Peaceful, raw, magical, and easily one of the most unforgettable experiences of our Japan trip.

Japan keeps proving that the best memories are sometimes found beyond the tourist maps ✨

Day 4 (continued) 🇯🇵✨

Landed in Kyoto and headed straight to the iconic Kiyomizu-dera — a place that truly lives up to its magic. We then wandered through the beautiful streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, soaking in Kyoto’s timeless charm while hopping between local food spots and trying delicious Japanese cuisine.

Explored nearby gems like Kodai-ji and Yasaka Shrine, but the highlight was the soft afternoon drizzle 🌧️ — making Kyoto feel even more dreamy and serene.

Ended the day with a traditional Kyoto cultural performance featuring a famous Maiko/Geisha-style show in our hotel balcony 💮 — the perfect ending to a day that felt straight out of a movie.

Day 4 ✨🚄

Leaving Tokyo behind, we boarded the magical bullet train towards our next destination — Kyoto. This is the second time throughout the journey we took shinkansen and I must say there is something surreal about watching the world race past your window while everything inside feels calm and almost cinematic.

And then there was Mount Fuji. 🏔️

At this point, it honestly felt like it had become our silent travel companion. Throughout our Tokyo days, somehow we never missed it. Different places, different moments, different views… yet it always found a way to appear, as if it was quietly following our journey and reminding us that some things are meant to stay with you.

Watching Fuji from the bullet train felt like one of those moments you don’t plan, but never forget.

Now we’re arriving at the cultural heart of Japan… Kyoto

But Day 4 isn’t over yet. The second half of today’s story is waiting in the next post… 👀✨
