WHAT IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN BUILDING A CAREER AND BEING PRESENT FOR YOUR FAMILY?

Ruth DeBonnett-Southall is a wife, mother, educator, entrepreneur, speaker, coach, podcast host, and mentor whose life is deeply rooted in faith, family, service, and purpose. For more than 35 years, she has poured into others through education and mentorship. Teaching has never simply been a career for Ruth. It has been part of her calling.

After years of supporting other people and their visions, Ruth reached a defining moment. She realized she could no longer minimize the gifts and talents God had placed inside of her.

She began bringing together the experience, strengths, and wisdom she had gained through teaching, entrepreneurship, marriage, motherhood, ministry, and even personal loss. Ruth believes those experiences weren’t wasted. God could use the victories, disappointments, and transitions to prepare her for purpose.

“No experience is wasted when we surrender it to God.”

That conviction comes from a faith that guides how Ruth lives and makes decisions. She seeks God’s direction, trusts His timing, and believes in His faithfulness even when the path isn’t clear. That’s what allows her to face difficulty without believing it gets the final word.

Today, she’s putting decades of experience to work through @professedwithpurpose Teacher Coaching, the @becomingserenepod Podcast, speaking, courses, and digital resources. She’s helping educators recognize the value of what they already carry and turn their strengths into new streams of income and impact.

And for the woman wondering if they missed their moment, Ruth has something worth hearing:

“Starting again does not mean you failed. Sometimes it means you now have the wisdom, courage, and clarity to build differently.”

Ruth’s story shows us that faith doesn’t mean every path will be easy or clear. It means believing God can use what you’ve walked through, what you’ve learned, and what He’s already placed in your hands to prepare you for what you haven’t seen yet.

Being the strong one doesn’t mean you never get tired.

What happens when you’re the woman everyone depends on, but you have nothing left to give?

In this episode of Becoming Serene, we’re talking about the guilt of slowing down, knowing your limits, and giving yourself permission to rest.

Because even the strong woman needs grace.

I’m learning that I don’t have to rush, catch up, or prove anything. I can simply begin again with more wisdom, more grace, and a clearer understanding of what matters.

I’m not coming back because I feel completely ready.

I’m coming back because I’m learning that sometimes faith looks like moving forward while you’re still becoming.

Becoming Serene is returning, and so am I. One step at a time. 🎙️🕊️

Episode 10 is live!

Not everyone deserves unlimited access to your time, energy, emotions, or peace.

In this episode, I speak on boundaries, why they matter, and how protecting your peace isn’t selfish. If you’ve ever struggled to say no, felt guilty for setting limits, or found yourself constantly overextending for others, this conversation is for you.

Your peace deserves protection.
