I was promoted four times in five years and still hit a wall I couldn't explain.

I was exhausted, constantly firefighting, and somewhere between managing my boss's expectations and keeping my team afloat, I had completely lost sight of where I was actually going.

That's the millennial manager experience isn't it? We were trained to be brilliant individual contributors, but nobody trained us to actually lead.

I spent 14 years leading 600+ people, figuring it out the hard way - through explosive growth, layoffs, public crisis, difficult bosses, demotivated teams - every leadership curveball imaginable. And somewhere along the way, helping people navigate their own version of this became the thing I care about most.

Those who know me will nod at this - I truly believe this is the work I'm meant to do 🙂.

Every session, every breakthrough, every coachee who excitedly shares their wins - it never gets old.

That's exactly why I built Leadership Amplified.

It's my personalised 1:1 coaching programme for mid-career managers and project leads - with or without direct reports - who are ready to advance faster as trusted leaders, without burning out.

So if you're a manager or project lead who's tired of feeling stuck, overlooked, or one bad meeting away from flipping the table - swipe through.

DM me "READY" or book a free intro call via the link in bio. I'd love to chat.

Hi! If we haven't met, I'm Huiyan, your Career Big Sis and leadership coach.

After 14 years of leading 600+ people, managing over $100M+ in P/L, and grooming team leads who manage 5-50+ people themselves, I now help middle managers advance faster without burning out.

This is because I realised Middle managers do the hardest, trickiest work in any organisation and get the least support. That's the gap I'm building @careerbigsis.co to close.

Follow along if it resonates. 🤍

4 ways to sound more senior at work.

Learnt something? 🚀 Manager Bootcamp 🚀 Super Early Bird enrollment opens! Let’s go from Overwhelmed to Promotion-ready in 6 weeks, without burning out. Proven methods from 15 years of leading 600+ people.

Comment or DM "SUPEREARLY" for 50% off early bird details.

Don't sabotage your own credibility. Want to be taken more seriously at work? I got you.

I've coached enough leaders to see the same thing happen over and over: people with great ideas, solid work, a good heart - accidentally shrinking their own presence without even realising it.

Not because they lack talent. but because some habits dilute their authority before they even speak.

Things like over-explaining, apologising for existing, softening every statement, or spiralling into too many caveats.

Small behaviours, big impact.

If you want your words to carry more weight. polish the signals you send out, not just the work you produce.

How to sound more senior at work, part 2. Part 1 went viral twice, so clearly more people need help with their workplace communications.

Don't worry, I got you 💚

After 15 years of managing teams, I've seen too many leaders and hardworking folks get stuck in corporate simply because of workplace communication nuances.

Yes, nuances. Such as being nice, is not the same as being firm and kind.

Also, sounding senior is not the same as sounding curt or rude! Keep the "thank you" and the "happy to". Apologise properly when you're actually in the wrong.

What we are cutting out is the unnecessary shrinking, not the kindness.

Save this to have the language ready in your back pocket. Practise them in your own tone, until they become second nature. Thank me later 🤗

Managers, just taken over a bigger team? Here's what I wish I knew.

At Shopee, I took over country teams one after another. None of those teams chose me as their manager.

Managers, presenting to senior leaders soon? Save this first.

Managers, if your team goes quiet the moment your meeting starts, this is for you.

Meetings are where your whole team watches you lead at the same time. Start with the goal, end with names and dates, and people stop dreading the invite.
