STANDARD MOVER and REVERSE MOVER

🔹 Standard Mover:
When the biceps contracts, its muscle fibres shorten and pull the forearm towards the upper arm.
📌 Example: Biceps curl — the forearm moves while the upper arm remains relatively stable.

🔹 Reverse Mover:
When the hands are fixed, the biceps still produces the same pulling force, but now the upper arm moves towards the forearm.
📌 Example: Pull-ups — your hands stay fixed on the bar while your body moves upward.

🧠 Remember: The muscle's line of pull remains the same, but the movement changes depending on which segment is fixed and which segment moves!

🔥 Now, think beyond the biceps!
What happens to the abdominal muscles during a sit-up versus a hanging leg raise? Can you identify the standard and reverse actions?

Don't just memorise muscle actions. Understand movement mechanics to become a better physiotherapist! 🩺

Same load ≠ Same response.
Pain depends not only on how much load you give, but also on how much your body is currently prepared to handle.

Load ↑ → Capacity must adapt ↑

Rehabilitation isn’t about avoiding load forever.
It’s about progressively building the capacity to handle it. 💪
Load vs Capacity — understand the difference

10/10 pain ≠ 10/10 tissue damage.

Pain is subjective. Exercise prescription should be based on the whole clinical picture, not just the pain score.

Start where the patient can tolerate → monitor the response → gradually build capacity. 💪

Piriformis syndrome isn’t always the whole story. 👀

From Piriformis Syndrome → Deep Gluteal Syndrome (DGS), our understanding has evolved.

📌 Anatomical variation ≠ automatic pathology.
📌 Don’t blame one muscle—assess the whole clinical picture.

Think beyond the piriformis. 🧠🦵

Disc prolapse = Surgery? Not always. 🧠

Some herniated discs can undergo spontaneous resorption, where the body gradually breaks down and reabsorbs the displaced disc material.

But who needs surgery?
It depends on the symptoms, neurological findings, severity, and how the condition progresses—not the MRI alone.

🚨 Urgent medical assessment is needed for red flags such as bladder/bowel dysfunction, saddle numbness, or progressive neurological weakness.

Educational content only. Individual treatment decisions require professional assessment.
