WHO AM I?

A bit about me...

I'm Ivan Ivaneza, a footballer living in Australia (at the time of making this) chasing my football dream ⚽️

I have played and lived in 3 countries, been rejected and failed more times than I would like to admit...🌏

But for some reason I am still going and still pursuing ✈️

Most people only post highlights.

But, I am here to show you the authentic journey and to help you on yours 📈

Nothing fancy. Just consistency. 🔁

Off-season is where the gap gets made.

📍Wollongong

Private 1on1 & small group sessions for players serious about actually getting better.

Sessions focus on what actually improves players, sharper first touch, tighter ball control, smarter decisions and a better physical edge.

Due to high demand I am opening more spots.

However, spots are limited and booking out quickly.

I was 13, training in small groups with pros. The coach running them had worked with Serbia's youth national team and a top-division club over there, and he gave me the only definition of talent that has ever been useful to me.

"Talent is the rate at which you master something."
Not how good you are. Not your ceiling. How fast you pick things up.

That one change does something important: it turns talent from a verdict into a variable. If talent is a ceiling, there's nothing to do about it — you're either born with it or you're not, and most players quietly decide which one they are by about 15.

If talent is a rate, then it's just speed. And anyone can be caught by someone slower who started earlier, repeated more, and never stopped.

I've played with genuinely more talented players than me who are no longer in the game. They learned fast and then stopped learning. Rate is worth nothing if you stop running it.

So stop asking whether you're talented. Ask how fast you're currently improving, and what you'd have to change to improve faster. That's a question with an answer.

Follow and I will keep giving you the things it took me 16 years in the game to work out.

At 21, I came home from Europe and started again in a league I had already played in before I left.

That's the part of the story people skip.

Coming home isn't the verdict. It's just the expensive part of the lesson.

I know what it feels like. You go, it doesn't work out the way you pictured, and you land back where you started - except now everyone knows you went, so there's a question attached to you that wasn't there before.

I felt like I'd used up my shot. Like the move was the attempt, and the attempt had failed.

It wasn't. What I actually came home with was two years of senior football in environments far harder than anything I'd played in at home, a much clearer idea of what I was and wasn't, and the knowledge that I could land in a country alone at 19 and survive it.

None of that shows up in a scoreline. All of it shows up in how I play now.

Careers are not one attempt. They're a series of them, and almost nobody's runs in a straight line. The players who disappear aren't the ones who came home. They're the ones who decided the coming home was the ending.

I'm still going. Three countries, six cities, and I don't know yet how this turns out.

Third division in Serbia. Pre-season. We kept butchering a simple drill, I messed it up too, and the coach stopped everything and said:

"How do you expect to perform on the weekend if you can't do this?"

At the time I thought it was just a coach losing his patience. We had a friendly against a much better side coming up and I remember thinking, the drill isn't the game. We'll be switched on when it matters.

That's the sentence I'd take back. We'll be switched on when it matters.

Because that's not how it works, and it took me years and two countries to understand what he was actually saying. You don't rise to the occasion on Saturday. You fall to whatever standard you've been accepting Monday to Friday.

The drill was never the point. The drill was the evidence. He could see exactly what we'd do at 1-0 down against a better team, because he'd just watched us decide that this particular ten minutes didn't count.

There is no switch. There's only the standard you keep when it doesn't matter, and that standard is the ceiling of what you can produce when it does.

Pick the thing you've been letting slide in training - the lazy first touch, the half-speed rondo, the warm-up you walk through. That's the thing that will show up on the weekend.
