🇺🇸🗳️ A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to advocate on Capitol Hill, meeting with congressional offices to discuss issues impacting our professions, students, and the communities we serve. That experience reminded me that advocacy doesn’t stop in Washington, D.C. It continues in our communities, in the conversations we have, in the causes we stand behind, and in the choices we make every day. Today, on Election Day, I’m reminded of how important it is to make our voices heard. For me, voting is not just about the present. It’s about the future we are building, the people we love, the rights and opportunities we value, and the kind of world we want to live in. It’s personal. It’s about my wife, our family, our community, and the future we hope to build together. ❤️ We may not all share the same perspectives, but we all have a voice and an opportunity to participate in shaping our future. Stay informed. Stay engaged. Exercise your right to vote. 🗳️ #vote2026 #YourVoiceMatters #ashahillday2026 #Advocacy by @ivonne_mariee

So excited to be in Washington, D.C. with ASHA Advocacy for Capitol Hill Day! 🇺🇸 Today I’m meeting with Arizona’s senators and representatives to discuss key issues impacting our profession and the communities we serve, especially the need to cosponsor H.R. 1614, which protects the ability of audiologists and SLPs to provide telehealth services to Medicare beneficiaries. Telehealth isn’t just convenience, it’s access. For many individuals, especially those impacted by the social determinants of health (SDOH), transportation barriers, limited mobility, distance from services, caregiving responsibilities, language access. Telehealth may be the only way they can consistently receive care. Everyone deserves the chance to communicate, to swallow safely, to participate fully in life. 💬❤️ Advocacy matters. Representation matters. And I’m proud to be here. #ASHAAdvocacy #SLPsOnTheHill #Telehealth #HR1614 #ATSU #SDOH #HealthEquity #MedicareAccess #SpeechLanguagePathology #ASHA2025 by @ivonne_mariee

🎙️Episode #314 “Social Determinants of Health and Pediatric Feeding Disorder” with @ivonne_mariee Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) directly impact access to evaluation and intervention for infants, toddlers, and children with pediatric feeding disorder. But, how comfortable are you in identifying them? Do you have strategies for overcoming the barriers to care that SDOH create? What are the roles/impact of cultural beliefs and language(s) and their impact on SDOH and PFD? To answer these profound questions, as well as countless others, “First Bite” is honored to host the brilliant Ivonne Maldonado De la Rosa, Ph.D., MLS, CCC-SLP, for an hour to enlighten us to potential solutions and strategies for overcoming known and unknown barriers for SDOH and PFD. By the end of this course, participants will be able to: ✨1. Define Social Determinants of Health and how they intersect with pediatric feeding disorders (PFD). ✨2. List two barriers to feeding therapy, and how can providers address them. ✨3. Describe how cultural beliefs and language impact PFD diagnosis and treatment. 🎧Listen for free on all major podcast platforms...
