A conversation thread I stumbled upon a year or two ago while doing my social media rounds that has lived rent free in my brain ever since was on the topic of hobbies, which, coincidentally, happens to be the theme of today’s roundup (WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??? literal chills).
This thread was in response to a statement that adults with hobbies, and not just like “oh I like reading” kind of hobbies, but those who centered large parts of their non-working lives around a single passion, did so because they are boring people with no creativity or ability to fill their time in meaningful ways so they have to center it on something like pickleball or coloring books etc. I’ve brought this topic up with friends over the years and am always surprised by the responses, with some enthusiastically agreeing and others saying this take is nothing short of whack. I fall somewhere in the middle, thinking that this likely applies to a percentage of people who are enthusiastic about one single activity, but definitely not all. What are *your* thoughts?

(quick side note... a friend from Philadelphia told me that she recently joined a club where everyone is assigned a recipe from a specific cookbook and then they all turn up at a park and share the foods they made??? THIS IS MY DREAM HOBBY AND I WANT SOMEONE TO START THIS IN THE HUDSON VALLEY. I AM AT CAPACITY AND CAN NOT TAKE THIS ON BUT I WILL GLADLY PROMOTE AND ATTEND XOXOXOXO)

AND NOW- a HOBBIES roundup to brighten that Sunday feed. HAPPY WEEKEND FRIENDS! Thanks for being here XO
