History has been made. Our ancestors are rejoicing. Our children are watching history unfold right before their eyes. 🩷💙 Our very own sister-mom, Keisha Lance Bottoms, has won the 2026 Georgia governor’s race, becoming the first Black woman elected governor in U.S. history! What a joy to share this moment with our children. For every little girl and every little boy watching, seeing one of our own make history brings public service a little closer to home. We hope they see what’s possible for themselves and the difference they can make in their own communities. Congratulations, Governor-elect Bottoms! Your Atlanta Chapter sisters are cheering for you. 🩷 When it comes to breast health, what you know could make all the difference. Our very own Sister-Mom, Dr. Erin Bowman of @AtlantaBreastCare, is helping us separate fact from fiction and sharing important information every woman should know! 🎀 No family history? You're still at risk! Approximately 85% of breast cancers occur in women without a family history. 🎀 Dense breasts? Breast cancer can be harder to detect on a routine mammogram. 🎀 Under 40? It's never too early to discuss your personal risk factors and screening needs with your doctor. And for Black women, these conversations are especially important, as we face higher rates of aggressive breast cancers and breast cancer mortality. 💕 The takeaway? Breast health is about MORE than a mammogram. Know your risk, ask questions, and advocate for your health! 💬 Drop a 🩷 if you learned something new, and SAVE and SHARE this post with a woman you love. Let's continue looking out for one another! #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastHealthMatters #BlackWomensHealth #JJATL #RaisingPowerCultureandLove ⚕️ Medical Disclaimer: This content is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Some choices aren't just about us—they’re about the legacy of love we leave behind. 🤍✨ Meet Atlanta Chapter Mother member Larissa, who is opening up about her powerful, life-changing journey. After losing her beloved mother to breast cancer in 2010, Larissa knew she carried an elevated risk. Knowing how heavy that path could be, she initially hesitated on genetic testing, wanting to protect her peace of mind. Everything shifted when she welcomed her daughter in 2015. Looking into her little girl’s eyes, Larissa knew she had to do whatever it took to stay here for the long haul. When she finally took the test, she learned she carried the PALB2 genetic mutation, which—paired with her family history—meant a 58% lifetime risk of breast cancer. Covered in prayer and supported by her family, Larissa chose peace and courage, opting for a prophylactic double mastectomy and completing her reconstruction in February 2017. Today, she stands on the other side with a profound sense of peace, ensuring her little girl knows her mama did everything possible to stay by her side. Sis, this is your gentle, urgent reminder: our health is our wealth. Advocate for yourself, schedule those checkups, do your monthly breast self-exams, and put yourself first—because our families need us here for a lifetime. Drop some 💖 for Larissa in the comments, and share this reel with the sisters in your circle who need to hear this today. “More than ever before, we will be looking to all of you, our young people, to lead the way.” — First Lady Michelle Obama The future is in good hands when our young people step up and lead by example! 💙💗 We’re so proud of our very own Axum, who came home from college to vote early alongside his dad! And this moment was even more special because it was his FIRST TIME VOTING! 🎉👏🏾 What a powerful reminder that leadership starts with showing up, making your voice heard, and taking an active role in shaping our future. Way to lead the way, Axum! 🗳️ Georgia, there's still time to make your voice heard! Early voting makes it easier to fit voting into your schedule. You can vote at any early voting location in your county, and some locations offer weekend hours. 💗 HER STORY. HER STRENGTH. HER JOURNEY. 🎀 Breast cancer is more than a diagnosis. It’s a deeply personal journey that can change your perspective, test your strength, and remind you of what matters most. 💕 This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is honored to spotlight Associate Jewel Natalie as she courageously shares her breast cancer story. By opening up about her experience, Natalie reminds us that behind every diagnosis is a woman with a story, a family, a community, and a strength that deserves to be celebrated. 💗 Natalie’s story is a powerful reminder to listen to our bodies, prioritize our health, and never underestimate the importance of early detection. Her willingness to share creates space for meaningful conversations, greater awareness, and the encouragement someone else may need to take that next step. Associate Jewel Natalie, thank you for trusting us with your story and for reminding us that there is strength in vulnerability and power in sharing our experiences. Your voice matters, and your story may inspire another woman to schedule that screening, ask that question, or feel a little less alone. 💕 🎀 This October and beyond, let’s turn awareness into action and sisterhood into support. Because when one woman shares her story, she can make a difference in so many others. For breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're passing the pink mic 🎤💕 to share the stories of strength and perseverance of Atlanta Chapter Mother Members. Our first story features Mom Ericka who is a passionate advocate for early detection. Four years as a breast cancer survivor was supposed to be a milestone worth celebrating. When she was first diagnosed in Spring 2022, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and she had to go through surgery, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Fast forward to 2026, during a routine checkup,  an unexpected recurrence was found, but Ericka continues to move forward with unwavering faith, incredible strength, and deep gratitude for the gift of life. After completing 12 rounds of chemotherapy, our Atlanta Chapter mom is moving forward with gratitude, surrounded by the love, prayers, and support of family, friends, and her community. Through it all, she reminds us that survivorship is not always a finish line, but a journey taken one day at a time. 🩷 Her message is one we all need to hear: Early detection matters. Keep your appointments, follow up with your doctors, and never ignore a check-up—even when you feel fine. To Mom Ericka, thank you for sharing your story and reminding us to cherish life, advocate for our health, and never underestimate the power of community. We’re standing with you every step of the way. 💗💙 #JJATL #SERPINKOUTCHALLENGE #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #RaisingPowerCultureAndLove Medical Disclaimer: The information shared in this post is for educational and awareness purposes only and is not intended to substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
