Some stories are incredibly difficult to put into words.💔

Just a few weeks ago, our dear friend Tian thought he had injured his back. Instead, his family received the devastating news that no one is ever prepared for: at just 36 years old, Tian has been diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma that has already spread to his spine and lungs.

In the blink of an eye, life changed.

Instead of working, making memories, and watching his beautiful little girl, Lily (just 18 months old), grow up, Tian is facing major surgery, ongoing hospital stays, and an aggressive battle against cancer. His wife, Lize-Marie, is standing beside him every step of the way, but the road ahead is unimaginably difficult.

The treatment that offers hope comes with overwhelming costs—lifesaving immunotherapy that they simply cannot carry alone. Discovery is not contributing to his treatment plan at this stage. His friends started a Back-A-Buddy campaign to help ease this financial burden.
